NYC Rent Hits Record High Under Mamdani

New data from The Corcoran Group, a major residential real estate brokerage founded in NYC, shows that rents in the metro area have climbed to a new record high.

Manhattan’s median rent rose 8% from a year earlier to $5,295, while Brooklyn reached $4,350, also up 8%, according to the report. Manhattan’s vacancy rate narrowed to 1.49%. In Queens, Rego Park posted particularly sharp increases, with one-bedroom rents up 12% and studio rents up more than 20%.

Under progressive hyperregulation, new housing does not get built. Landlords cannot afford to maintain what housing already exists due to rent control. Meanwhile, liberals have flooded the sanctuary city with hordes of foreigners, many of them here illegally; a staggering 40% of NYC rental units are occupied by people born in other countries.

Less supply + more demand = higher prices. The economics is so simple, even socialists could understand it. But they choose not to.

Uh oh:

City Comptroller Mark Levine commented on the new report, saying, “NYC’s housing affordability crisis is at DEFCON 1. We need to push harder on every front to address our housing shortage.”

Wrong. They need to stop pushing and let the free market provide people with a place to live, while allowing ICE to do its job, which will decrease the pressure from abroad that has helped drive up housing costs.

Instead, they will double down on Marxist policies until they achieve their objective of 100% government housing. Those who manage to secure a unit will find themselves living in Cabrini-Green. But at least they can force everyone else to pay for it.

Foreign Adolescents Help Administer Elections in California

As Spencer Pratt and Steve Hilton can tell you, California elections have degenerated into a banana republic farce. Helping to administer them are adolescents from other countries.

Natalie Winters reports:

Documents reviewed by this publication reveal that California officials are directing public schools to identify teenagers as young as 16 to work inside polling locations during the November 2026 election, including lawful permanent residents who are not United States citizens.

Those who speak a language other than English get a $100 bilingual bonus.

County election agencies say they may issue ballots, check voters off official rosters, help operate election equipment, assist voters throughout the day, prepare ballots for pickup, and participate in closing polling locations.

Nobody knows how many foreign teenagers have already been doing this; the state doesn’t track it. But those in charge want more:

The recruitment campaign appears in a June 30 letter signed by California Secretary of State Shirley Weber and State Superintendent Tony Thurmond and distributed to county superintendents, charter school administrators, and high school principals across the state.

Unsurprisingly, this campaign is endorsed by left-wing NGOs:

The expansion was supported by California Common Cause, the League of Women Voters of California, the California Immigrant Policy Center, Asian Americans Advancing Justice, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund, and several other immigration advocacy organizations.

Students may not only administer but host elections:

The same letter encourages school districts to turn their campuses into vote centers, effectively transforming California’s public-school system into both election infrastructure and an election-worker recruitment pipeline.

Consider the kind of people running schools in California and you can see the cause for alarm.

Meanwhile, California high school kids are paid with public funds to be left-wing activists and the state has passed an emergency law to prevent federal oversight of elections.

Somalis Flew Old Glory Upside Down on July 4th Weekend

America lavishes welfare benefits upon Somalis. Like most people given what they do not deserve, they are ungrateful, to judge from the way our flag was displayed on the USA’s 250th anniversary weekend by Somalis in their colony Minnesota:

The New York Post reports on Somali Independence Day celebrations:

Video posted on social media showed Old Glory on a city‑owned pole at the Lake George Park pavilion in St. Cloud flying the wrong way up on July 3 during the event, which drew hundreds of people, including local politicians, union leaders and political organizations.

An hour and half after the event started, someone called the police, who came and fixed the flag.

The event’s organizer, Omar Podi, apologized for the offensive display on the eve of America’s 250th birthday, insisting it was a mistake and was only upside down for “15 minutes or so.”

Sure. We can trust in the honesty of Somalis.

Flying the American flag upside down was originally meant to signify distress, but it has been used since hippy days to express contempt for the government and/or the nation.

At least it’s better than the way Old Glory is treated back home in Somalia:

The moonbats running Minnesota recently redesigned the state flag to resemble the Somali flag. Maybe that will ensure more respectful treatment.

American Woman Gets Multiculturally Enriched by Migrant in Ireland

Ireland undergoing third-worldization is not a safe place for Americans. Former New Yorker Jamey Carney was living in Killarney with her 13-year-old daughter when she was bludgeoned to death on Tuesday. The suspect is an asylum seeker named Ahmad Alsaqer.

She was romantically involved with the much younger Alsaqer, who high-tailed it to Turkey promptly following the murder.

Moonbattery got her into the relationship. Via Hungarian Conservative:

Carney was a liberal, pro-Palestine, anti-ICE activist who reportedly met the suspect during an anti-war demonstration.

Talk about suicidal empathy. Her mangled body was reportedly found by her daughter. The liberal establishment is framing the story in terms of domestic violence and misogyny, lest anyone think forbidden thoughts regarding hijrah and mass Third World immigration.

Madrid: Most Unaccompanied Minors Confirmed to Be Adults

Borders have been besieged by legions of “unaccompanied minors,” for whom doors are opened wide out of empathy. It must be difficult for children to travel by themselves all the way from faraway Third World hellholes to the extravagantly generous welfare states of the West. It helps not to be a child at all, but a full-grown adult.

Remix News reports from Spain:

In 2024, authorities in the Madrid region opened 848 age-determination proceedings for individuals claiming to be unaccompanied foreign minors…

Because colonists do not tend to bring valid ID, wrists are x-rayed to determine bone age.

Of the 378 individuals who underwent the test, only 112 were confirmed as minors, while 266 were determined to be adults — approximately 70 percent.

The colonists have incentive to cheat:

[C]laiming minor status grants significant advantages under Spanish and EU rules, including placement in specialized protection centers with housing, education, healthcare, and legal safeguards.

There is also significantly greater difficulty in deportation; and, in many cases, pathways to family reunification or residence permits unavailable to adults. Many claimants disappear from centers once age verification begins, avoiding confirmation of their true age.

In France, the fraud could be even worse:

French MP Charles de Courson highlighted the financial burden in a parliamentary speech, “Eighty percent of unaccompanied migrants in France’s northeast Marne department who declared themselves thus are not minors, with the cost of caring for these 160 false minors costing €5,000 per month, which equals for €60,000 per year for each one.”

Then there is Paris:

A separate 2019 experiment by the Paris prosecutor’s office examined 154 formally identified “minors” and found 91.6 percent (141) were adults via medical exams.

Similar results have been found in Sweden (84%) and Belgium (74%).

No doubt the fraud has been going on for some time, with authorities allowing it so as to present themselves as the noble defenders of children as they systematically displace Europe’s population.
