The Washington State Supreme Court is considering a rule change as a way to circumvent the state legislature. It would grant new authority to judges to dismiss charges against defendants, even over the objections of elected prosecutors, without statutory authorization. The rule change, if adopted, would essentially allow left-wing judges to further dismantle the criminal justice system and let even more dangerous criminals run free.

Leftists want to pull this off by obscure rule change rather than by legislation because a milder version was already rejected by the legislature even in Washington.

The rule change proponents argue that judges stop viewing themselves as “passive instruments of prosecutorial policies” …

Judges are supposed to be disinterested instruments. That’s why the lady with the scales wears a blindfold. Her job is not to impose her own will. But with liberals, everything is about imposing their will.

Imagine if this went national. Lawless judges like Joel Cano and Hannah Dugan would have arbitrary authority to throw out the case against any criminal who qualifies as a sacred victim according to cultural Marxist ideology.

At least it would save on court and incarceration costs. In the country illegally? Dismiss immediately. Person of politically preferred pigmentation? Dismiss immediately.

The next logical step will be to grant judges power to arbitrarily declare guilty verdicts. White male? Guilty.

In some jurisdiction, progressives are almost there already.
