Another Neglected Dog Bites Man Story

Media leftists must have thought they could spin it convincingly as self-defense. Otherwise, a dog bites man story like the murder of Austin Metcalf would not have received much attention, despite being committed in public. Similar stories are too common to be widely noticed — like this one found in the UK’s Daily Mail:

A beloved elderly couple was shot and killed by a teenage burglar who broke into their Mississippi home, officials say.

Billy Blair, 74, and his wife, Virginia Carol Blair, 71, had their home invaded by 17-year-old Cordarius Hobbs on June 3, according to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office.

Once again, playing Guess the Races would be too easy to be fun.

Hobbs was still on the scene when police arrived:

Hobbs fired shots at four different law enforcement officers and an infant at the scene, prosecutors said.

All five were treated for non-life-threatening injures, WLBT reported.

The Blairs are remembered for their generosity and devotion to New Hebron Baptist Church.

Stories like this happen daily and are mainly ignored. From a scholarly article in the journal Demography:

We estimate that 3 % of the total U.S. adult population and 15 % of the African American adult male population has ever been to prison; people with felony convictions account for 8 % of all adults and 33 % of the African American adult male population.

Many of those convictions are for murder.

We have a problem that will not be ameliorated by continued obsequious pandering, much less by defunding the police per liberal wishes.
