Biden Regime May Punish Florida With Travel Ban

In the Soviet Union, internal passports were required to move around within the country. So why should people be allowed to move freely within the USA, now that utopia is just a few dozen executive orders away?

Florida’s relative success with a more American approach to COVID-19 has made a mockery of lockdown-happy Democrat-controlled states. Governor Ron DeSantis is emerging as a potential leader of resistance against the leftists who have taken over the federal government. Tourism is very important to the Florida economy, especially with spring break coming up soon. Put it all together and you get this:

The Biden administration is considering whether to impose domestic travel restrictions, including on Florida, fearful that coronavirus mutations are threatening to reverse hard-fought progress on the pandemic.

Tyranny is always for the sake of our health these days. Florida Republicans are not buying it:

Gov. Ron DeSantis and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio slammed the possibility of the White House enacting travel restrictions to Florida, with the governor saying it would be “a political attack” on the state’s residents. …

“If you think about it, restricting the right of Americans to travel freely throughout our country while allowing illegal aliens to pour across the southern border unmolested, would be a ridiculous, but very damaging farce,” [DeSantis] said.

Rubio wrote to Biden saying that such a travel restriction would be an “outrageous, authoritarian move that has no basis in law or science.”

“Instead, it would only serve to inflict severe and devastating economic pain on an already damaged economy,” Rubio wrote.

That’s the point. People are starting to notice that states run by Republicans are doing much better than states run by Democrats. That’s why there has been an exodus from blue states. But this is nothing economic sabotage can’t fix.

Resistance isn’t limited to DeSantis and Rubio:

On Friday, nine Florida lawmakers led by Rep. Byron Donalds sent a public letter to President Joe Biden excoriating the president for this potential “abuse of power” against American citizens and contrasting it with his sycophantic defense of China.

They note that when Trump restricted travel from China in the early days of the ChiCom virus, Biden denounced it as “xenophobic.”

Despite having an older population, Florida ranks 30th in hospitalizations and 42nd in fatalities for COVID-19, according to stats cited by Rep Carlos Gimenez. DeSantis’s lighter hand works better than the iron-fisted repression exhibited by failing Democrats like Newsom, Cuomo, Whitmer, and Murphy. It has the added advantage of being consistent with American principles.

Meanwhile, as DeSantis alludes to, the border has been thrown open to the entire Third World and whatever diseases it might bring into the country, various strains of COVID-19 included:

The White House struggled to answer on Thursday how it was working to dispel the belief among migrants that the US border is open, instead shifting focus to the administration’s “moral and humane” immigration policy, amid a nearly 100 percent surge of illegal crossings.

Defending the border from foreign incursion — the primary responsibility that justifies the existence of the federal government — is “immoral” according to the current administration. If there is one subject Biden should know about, it is immorality.

Displacing the American public with new voters more likely to depend on Big Government handouts is more important to the Biden Regime than our health.
