Denver Mayor Mike Johnston Spends Big on Migrants

If Denver Mayor Mike Johnston can get away with his open defiance of federal immigration law in the face of the most massive invasion in human history, maybe no one will hold him accountable for blowing $356 million of other people’s money to swamp Denver with migrants:

The eye-popping sum, which amounts to $7,900 per foreign national in the city, was revealed by an updated analysis last week by the Common Sense Institute (CSI), a non-partisan research organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the U.S. economy.

This comprises 8% of the city’s 2025 budget.

When people pay taxes, they expect some benefit in return. But Johnston has been cutting essential services to house and feed migrants, many of whom are in the country illegally.

Denver is a sanctuary city, meaning it does not enforce immigration law, nor does the city cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

There’s more:

Denver doctors earlier this year said that the migrant crisis had pushed the state’s hospital system to its breaking point and was causing a humanitarian crisis.

The CSI study estimates that emergency departments in the Denver metro area have delivered an estimated $49 million in uncompensated care to migrants.

That raises the cost of healthcare for those of us who belong in this country. Eventually, hospitals will go bankrupt. This is not a bug but a feature from the viewpoint of Democrats, who want healthcare to be absorbed by the government.

Then there is the cost of crime, as the Denver area succumbs to rule by Venezuelan gangs.

Let’s hope Tom Homan means it when he says he is willing to put Johnston in prison if he continues to flout the law while destroying his city in the name of moonbattery.
