Farewell Kari Lake

Anyone who watches the local news on FOX10 in Phoenix is familiar with Kari Lake. She and John Hook have been the lead anchors for ages. Like the rest of the mainstream media, FOX10 slants to the left in its coverage (far left on immigration issues), but Lake is a countermoonbat who has taken heat for having Gab and Parler accounts, for objecting to Trump being thrown off Twitter when he was President, and for tweeting a video of two California doctors who questioned the necessity of draconian coronavirus lockdowns.

Is it still possible for a principled person with no interest in serving as a leftist apparatchik to work in the liberal establishment media? In Lake’s case, the answer is no. She has been out on leave for a while, and has now formally called it quits.

Her resignation announcement could serve as the epitaph for professional journalism:

“Sadly, journalism has changed a lot since I first stepped into a newsroom, and I’ll be honest, I don’t like the direction it’s going. The media needs more balance in coverage and a wider range of viewpoints represented in every newsroom at every level and in each position. In the past few years, I haven’t felt proud to be a member of the media. I’m sure there are other journalists out there who feel the same way. I found myself reading news copy that I didn’t believe was fully truthful, or only told part of the story, and I began to feel that I was contributing to the fear and division in this country by continuing on in this profession. …

“It is scary walking away from a good job and a successful career, especially in difficult times. I know God has my back and will guide me to work that aligns with my values.”

This is a sad development not just for Phoenix, but for the news media in general, which eventually will be purged of everyone not content to produce woke propaganda.

On a tip from Varla.
