Hitler used Brownshirts to achieve the power to impose his will. But Nazis are gone now. Statism having changed, Democrats deploy a very different contingent:

A chaotic scene erupted in the Rayburn House Office Building on Tuesday afternoon when a crowd of mentally and physically disabled protesters attempted to storm the House Energy and Commerce Committee markup of the Trump-backed “Big Beautiful Bill.”

The mentally disabled are a particularly reliable constituency for Democrats, well represented by their most recent president.

The purpose of the spectacle was to push the talking point that Republicans are scheming against Medicaid.

Republicans argue that any changes to Medicaid are meant to strengthen the program and ensure that Medicaid isn’t going to illegal aliens, ineligible people, or able-bodied adults who choose not to work. Instead of cutting Medicaid, as the protestors allege, Republicans hope to strengthen protection for those who actually need it.

To which Democrats respond by shrieking that Republicans are brutally murdering the helpless if they cut waste, fraud, and abuse by a penny.

Capitol police announced less than an hour later that 25 arrests were made and more were being made. “It is against the law to protest inside the Congressional Buildings,” they said in a statement.

The organizers well knew that their pawns were breaking the law. Nothing tugs on the heartstrings like the mentally and physically disabled being dragged away by law enforcement.
