Before sex change procedures came into vogue, doctors used to say, “First, do no harm.” That would be a great motto for the federal government. The spending cuts required to get the budget under control will be massive. The best place to start is where our money is not merely wasted but spent to damage the country with corrosive propaganda:

National Public Radio, Public Broadcasting Service, and Voice of America are facing calls for defunding or reform because of concerns about left-wing bias.

The straw that broke the camel’s back may have been PBS’s recent claim that Elon Musk made a “fascist salute.”

On Jan. 21st, Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, posted on X, “Free people aren’t forced to pay for state-funded media. Stop making Americans fund leftist propaganda. Defund PBS & NPR.”

Here’s how NPR treats those who fail to toe the leftist line at all times:

Last April, Uri Berliner, an NPR senior editor, resigned following a five-day suspension from the outlet he had worked at for 25 years. The suspension came after Berliner authored an essay that was critical of the news outlet’s liberal bias. He blasted NPR’s coverage of the Russia collusion hoax and ignoring the Hunter Biden laptop.

As for VOA,

Only days after Hamas’ murderous attack on Israel in October 2023, VOA issued guidance to reporters and editors that said the assault could be referred to as a terrorist attack, but to “avoid calling Hamas and its members terrorists, except in quotes,” according to internal emails.

VOA effectively sides with terrorists against civilization by adopting a posture of “neutrality and balance.” However, there was nothing neutral or balanced about the video rant it posted by unhinged Hollyweirdo Robert De Niro calling Trump “stupid,” “a punk,” “a pig,” et cetera.

Maybe Kari Lake can clean up VOA — though the rot likely goes deep. Or maybe we don’t need it.

As for PBS and NPR, if their audience of well-to-do liberals wants to bed down in a pretentious nest of propaganda, they can pay for it themselves.
