NY Times: Cute Cat Videos Spread Disinformation
If you thought not even the thought police at the New York Times could be too dour to enjoy videos that showcase the entertaining antics of cats, think again:
In an article titled ‘Those Cute Cats Online? They Help Spread Misinformation’, reporter Davey Alba claimed “videos and GIFs of cute animals — usually cats” were being used by “people and organizations peddling false information online.”
By false information, he means “disinformation” — i.e., facts and opinions that do not support the liberal narrative.
Time wasted watching cats pounce on Roombas is time not spent contemplating the injustice of inequity and the racistness of your skin color.
Cute cats are worse than frivolous; they are a gateway to thoughtcrime:
The article complains that news outlets like the Western Journal and the Epoch Times have weaponized cute kitties to bait traffic, which then filters through to their website…
That’s where the hardcore disinformation is encountered, often entailing viewpoints that directly contradict the Democrat party line.
Thank goodness the flagship publication of the liberal establishment has exposed this sinister conspiracy.
In utopia, there will be no cute cat videos, cats having been canceled for oppressing mice.
Videos and GIFs of cute animals — usually cats — have gone viral for almost as long as the internet has been around.
But now this trick for building audiences is being used by people and organizations peddling misinformation, researchers say. https://t.co/xw7MqEaSz1
