Not all Democrat pols are effete weenies. Maryland Governor Wes Moore has a Bronze Star. Oh wait…
Via FOX45 Baltimore:
Spotlight on Maryland has learned that Moore’s pursuit of the Bronze Star medal in 2024 relied heavily on political favors, special access, inaccurate information about his Afghanistan deployment and involved the deliberate concealment of key facts regarding Moore’s end-of-deployment awards in 2006.
Moore claimed he had it before actually he did:
Moore’s false claim of having a Bronze Star was first reported by FOX45’s Mikenzie Frost in 2022.
When caught out, Moore characterized it as an honest mistake. He had been approved for a Bronze Star, but all the paperwork had mysteriously vanished. So he went back and got a friend in the military to award him new one.
Commanders have two years to submit a soldier for an award following the act or period of service being recognized. Moore was 16 years past that deadline.
No worries. He had a member of Congress step in. Not a Maryland member but then Senator Laphonza Butler (D-CA), who was connected to Moore through a close relationship with Cackling Kamala Harris.
Seven days after Butler’s request reached the Secretary of the Army’s office, the Army approved Moore’s Bronze Star on Nov. 19, 2024.
Normally, award requests take 6–15 months. But Big Government can be highly efficient when properly motivated.
Retired Army Lt. Col. James “Jamie” Gottschling has produced a photograph showing that Moore was awarded an Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM), not a bronze star. If any paperwork was really lost, it was for the ARCOM.
Asked whether Moore did anything that, in his view, would have merited a Bronze Star, Gottschling said, “No.”
The ARCOM disqualifies Moore for the Bronze Star he received 18 years later.
Army regulations prohibit a soldier from receiving two decorations for the same act, achievement or period of service.
But that’s only if Democrats aren’t thinking of running you for president.
