Biden Targets Energy Industry He Crippled
One of the ways Biden has set off spiraling inflation is with his war on energy. According to leftist ideology, energy produced by economically efficient means is an existential threat to life on earth. To please the radicals who call the tune, Biden has been driving prices into the stratosphere by suppressing drilling and closing pipelines. Now that people are feeling the pain, he follows the socialist script by blaming the free market that he deliberately crippled.

Biden called on the Federal Trade Commission to investigate whether oil-and-gas companies are participating in illegal conduct aimed at keeping gasoline prices high…
Outside analysts expressed skepticism that the FTC would find enough evidence to substantiate Mr. Biden’s allegations…
In a Wednesday letter to FTC Chair Lina Khan, Mr. Biden alleged that there is “mounting evidence of anti-consumer behavior by oil-and-gas companies.”

If Democrats wanted gas prices to stop climbing, they would get their boot off the neck of the energy industry. They would open up drilling on federal lands, stop closing pipelines, and drop the pointless ethanol mandate. Turning to WSJ’s editorial page:
Our sources say the ethanol mandate is adding roughly 14 cents per gallon to the cost of producing gasoline and diesel in the U.S. The difference between the cost of wholesale gasoline and ethanol adds another 10 cents. One easy way to reduce gasoline prices is to waive the ethanol mandate.
In any event, the main reason gasoline prices are rising is because demand is outstripping supply. The Administration is exacerbating the supply shortfall with policies that discourage and raise the costs of domestic production. …
Biden knows that the FTC is unlikely to turn up any illegal conduct. But unleashing the agency on energy companies gives the appearance of doing something while diverting public attention from the problem that is his own war on fossil fuels.
You can’t put the likes of Biden in power and expect the lights to stay on indefinitely.
