Last week Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with the ChiComs in Anchorage. They bullied him and ate his lunch. Gerard Baker wrote an op-ed about this disgraceful incident that gave me an idea for a self-help book.

The book would be based on two principles: (1) never turn against yourself and (2) never be a victim.

A house divided against itself cannot stand. No matter how strong you could be if you took your own side, turn against yourself and you are weak.

Being a victim is a mindset and a matter of choice. No matter how easy you have it, you have the option of declaring yourself a victim and sniveling contemptibly, as certain identity groups prove constantly. No matter how bad a hand life deals you, you have the option of refusing to be a victim, of taking responsibility for dealing with obstacles and hardships as best you can. A victim loathes himself and is at the mercy of forces beyond his control. A nonvictim respects himself and is master of his own fate.

This applies at a national level, as the Baker op-ed illustrates:

When Yang Jiechi, the Communist Party’s foreign-affairs chief, lectured Secretary of State Antony Blinken about America’s human-rights record, its treatment of minorities and its system’s innate inequity, everything he said could have been lifted straight from the pages of the Democratic Party’s presidential election platform, culled from Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper stories, or jotted down in a student’s notes from lectures delivered daily at America’s top universities.

In fact, it probably was.

Hoisted on his own cultural Marxist petard, Blinken — who allegedly represents America — could only whimper in response to the onslaught.

Baker refers to a quote attributed to Lenin: “The capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them.” America is getting strung up with rope handed out free of charge by our liberal ruling class.

The intellectual movement to which they subscribe has been the force behind the planned destruction—figuratively and literally—of the principal pillars of America’s authority in the world: the idea that the greatest nation on the planet was founded on universal ideals of human freedom and dignity. Instead, it insists, like those Chinese Communists, that all along this claim to a unique status in the world has been a fraud, mere sloganeering behind which America has been—and remains—a force for repression and exploitation.

Turned against itself by woke ideology, the Land of Liberty bows its head humbly before the moral superiority of a totalitarian regime that killed tens of millions under Mao and keeps slaves in concentration camps to this day.

How can a nation prevail in a global ideological struggle when its leaders believe its values are intrinsically evil?

It can’t and it won’t.

Regarding the corrosive victim mentality at the heart of all things politically correct,

This isn’t about the maternity flight suits for fighter pilots or updated requirements for Army hairstyles the commander in chief proudly hailed earlier this month.

It’s about the elevation of victimhood as the prime signifier of honor in modern America. … It’s hard to imagine a successful society in which the claim to being the victim of some oppressor—often a spurious claim—is the quickest route to advancement.

By definition, a victim is a loser. If you don’t want to be a loser, don’t call yourself a victim. Abandon your self-respect for the sake of short-term advantage and you could be reduced to voting for a regime that lets Antony Blinken represent the country.

Maybe the ChiComs really are morally superior — to the liberal ruling class. They are not morally superior to real Americans who believe in the principles grounded in individual liberty that the USA was founded on. The country has been stolen out from under us during the Long March Through the Institutions that put leftists in all the key positions of authority. We need to take it back before it’s too late.

The existential threat is not the Chinese. It is woke progressives. If the ChiComs finish us off, it will be as an opportunistic infection.
