COVID Forever
Wouldn’t it be great if COVID-19 pandemic could go on forever? Then Democrats could always crush small businesses on whims, addict millions to cash handouts, force us to signal obeisance and obliterate our individuality by wearing masks, justify unheard-of intrusions into our private lives, and best of all, have a pretext more actual than the global warming hoax to impose the Great Reset. Rest easy, liberal elitists; Bloomberg writer Andreas Kluth says it never has to end:
Most epidemics disappear once populations achieve herd immunity and the pathogen has too few vulnerable bodies available as hosts for its self-propagation. …
In the case of SARS-CoV-2, however, recent developments suggest that we may never achieve herd immunity.
Remember when Dr Fauci admitted that he had been lying to us about herd immunity? The other leg may be in for a pull.
The main reason is the ongoing emergence of new variants that behave almost like new viruses.
In South Africa, people who had been infected with one strain then came down with a later one.
That leaves only vaccination as a path toward lasting herd immunity. And admittedly, some of the shots available today are still somewhat effective against some of the new variants. But over time they will become powerless against the coming mutations.
If SARS-CoV-2 mutates into something more transmissible,
we’re in for seemingly endless cycles of outbreaks and remissions, social restrictions and relaxations, lockdowns and reopenings. At least in rich countries, we will probably get vaccinated a couple of times a year, against the latest variant in circulation, but never fast or comprehensively enough to achieve herd immunity.
There will always be more people pouring in from the Third World across the open border, bringing in new strains from places where vaccines are less available. So we had better mask up, keep the schools and businesses closed, maintain social distancing, and hide in the basement like our leader Joe Biden. Don’t worry about the economy. Big Government can just print more free money.
On the brighter side, Kluth admits that COVID-19 is not in the same league as more serious pandemics like smallpox. However,
