What could be more emblematic of human accomplishment than manmade light illuminating the darkness? By the same token, what could be more emblematic of antihuman moonbattery than sanctimoniously snuffing out the light on behalf of other species?
Conservation groups have filed a lawsuit against a Hawaiian resort:
Artificial lights at Maui’s Grand Wailea disorient Hawaiian petrels as they navigate between breeding colonies and the ocean, the Conservation Council for Hawaii and the Center for Biological Diversity said.
The seabirds can mistake the lights for the moon and stars they instinctively use as a guide to fly out to sea.
This gives an idea of the scale of the problem:
From 2008 to 2021 at least 15 Hawaiian petrels were attracted to the Grand Wailea’s lights, and at least one was found dead, the lawsuit said.
If someone found a dead bird, obviously the lights must be snuffed out. How could vacationers enjoy themselves at luxury resorts, knowing that the lights they see by are insensitive to birds — and probably moths too?
Not even environmentalists expect us to go back to bumbling around in the dark like cavemen just yet. This isn’t about the dead bird they found. Environmentalists are leftists. It is about the power to boss people around, and it is about money.
[The lawsuit] notes similar legal action against a Kauai resort resulted in the hotel implementing measures to reduce seabird light attraction and making monthly contributions to fund projects to benefit the seabirds.
Similar contributions used to be paid to the mafia to prevent the front windows of small businesses from getting smashed.
