A favorite Democrat ruse is to squawk righteously about a gender pay gap, which they promise to repair by micromanaging private employers. It is already illegal to pay women less than men for the same work. To the extent there is a pay gap it is because they do not do the same work. Liz Wheeler has the stats:

However, according to the ideology summed up in Democrats’ favorite word “equity,” it doesn’t matter if men work more hours, take more dangerous or tedious jobs, et cetera. Equity entails everyone being compensated the same regardless of what they have earned.

To impose equity requires a government with absolute control over every corner of society, which explains the appeal for Democrats.
