UK Government to Impose Leftist Sources on Social Media

Under Labour rule, the British government continues to strangulate freedom of information. Via GB News:

On Monday, the Government published its “Watch this Space: A new strategic direction for UK media” Green Paper.

The document sets out plans to ensure social media companies and video-sharing platforms prioritise content from “public service” media (PSM), which includes the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

That is, social media is to be forced to prioritize propaganda from liberal establishment sources.

The move would see mainstream media outlets pushed to the top of people’s social media feeds when they search for news stories – even if they don’t want to read them.

That way, people won’t read what leftists call “misinformation.” It will be replaced by what leftists call “trustworthy” sources.

At least the UK’s moonbat rulers have a sense of humor:

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy … rejected criticisms aimed at the BBC, insisting the public broadcaster remains “the most trustworthy source of news, not just in this country, but across the world”.

Not since Soviet era Pravda has the world enjoyed such a trustworthy source of news.

Incidentally, George Orwell named the government torture chamber Room 101 in 1984 after a conference room at the BBC, which is owned and funded by the government.

“So I think we should be careful about not trashing the BBC,” she added.

Britons need to be careful all right, or Big Government might suspect them of committing misinformation.
