Joe Biden’s bellicose demand that Americans regard their fellow citizens as enemies for being Republican found a receptive audience in academia. Take for example Professor Silke-Maria Weineck of the University of Michigan, who wrote in The Chronicle of Higher Education that Republicans are “the enemy.”

“[I]t is not merely acceptable to denounce the GOP — clearly, loudly, profanely,” she wrote. “It is our ethical and professional duty.”

Weineck ostensibly teaches German and comparative literature. But like liberal churches, liberal arts departments have been subverted and hollowed out, their original content replaced with moonbattery.

She wrote further that Republicans have a “longstanding contempt for knowledge and expertise” in fields that include “history, public health, climate change, or ecology.”

Being a member of the liberal intelligentsia, Weineck is an expert in history, public health, climate change, ecology, and any other field you care to name.

As David Strom notes at Hot Air,

It’s not just one deranged professor spouting off. This attitude is nearly a consensus at colleges and universities.

The flagship university of the academic establishment is Harvard.

At Harvard more than 80% professors identify as liberal or very liberal. Of those, nearly 40% chose “very liberal” to describe themselves.

Only 1.4% self-identify as conservatives. 1.4% Not one of those professors described himself as “very conservative.”

Given what we know about liberal tolerance, only a bold soul who doesn’t care about tenure will let slip a conservative opinion in the leftist echo chamber that is Harvard.

Returning to Weineck,

She wrote that Republicans are “ready to wage open war with colleges, intent on confiscating the social capital they wield” and this “is a moment of considerable peril.”

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if she were right?

Academia is to the moonbat ruling class that is destroying America what the Death Star was to the evil empire in Star Wars. That’s where every evil concept rammed down our throats by the rest of the establishment originates. Nowhere else could you find people with nothing better to do who are demented and malevolent enough to come up with doctrines like our state religion, Critical Race Theory.

By definition, half of the population is right of center. Wherever center is nowadays, it is clearly beyond the pale from the viewpoint of the maniacal ideologues who have converted American universities into reeducation camps.

Weineck’s University of Michigan is a state-supported school, although even private schools receive massive infusions of money from Big Government. In addition, de facto dictator Biden unilaterally declared that we have to pick up much of the student loan tab of 20-something adolescents pursuing degrees in moonbattery instead of productive employment.

Being forced to subsidize the mealy-mouthed Marxist propaganda on NPR and PBS is bad enough. Academia costs us hundreds of $billions. How is it right that we should have to pay for information warfare waged against us?
