It seemed the politicized Nobel Peace Prize had reached maximum absurdity when Barack Obama won the prize shortly after taking office, not having accomplished anything whatsoever other than getting elected. But the envelope can always be pushed still further. Instead of granting the prize for doing nothing to advance peace, why not grant it for actively destroying peace?

Black Lives Matter has been tearing the USA apart along racial lines. It is responsible for literally hundreds of riots and about $2 billion in property damage. How about a Nobel Peace Prize for that?

The Guardian is pleased to report:

The Black Lives Matter movement has been nominated for the 2021 Nobel peace prize for the way its call for systemic change has spread around the world.

As we learned with Obama, the word “change” has talismanic power for liberals, who assume that any change will be for the better so long as they are the ones who impose it.

In his nomination papers, the Norwegian MP Petter Eide said the movement had forced countries outside the US to grapple with racism within their own societies.

Or rather, it allowed the cancer of identity politics to metastasize, ensuring strife and discord.

As for the mayhem Black Lives Matter inflicted throughout the country for months on end, destroying whole neighborhoods and crippling whole cities, Eide easily brushes it off with a lie so preposterous, critics are likely to be too stunned by its audacity to respond.

“Of course there have been incidents, but most of them have been caused by the activities of either the police or counter-protestors.”

Never mind the video footage we watched all last year. It was the police and their supporters who looted stores from one end of the country to the other and set fire to police stations. Cleverly, they disguised themselves as black hooligans and Antifa maniacs. Spray-painting leftist slogans across the ruins of the businesses they destroyed tricked some people, but not Petter Eide.

Then there is this, presented in all seriousness as an argument for giving the Nobel Peace Prize to violent black supremacists:

Data assembled by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data project in September 2020 showed that 93% of Black Lives Matter demonstrations involved no serious harm to people or property.

If 93% of my behavior involves no serious harm to people or property, do I qualify for a Nobel Peace Prize?
