California Public Employees’ Retirement System Flushes Fortune Down Green Energy

Green energy moonbattery is not the best investment:

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System for state employees lost 71% of its $468 million investment in a clean energy and technology private equity fund, state records show, but CalPERS won’t explain how.

Don’t worry, retirees; California taxpayers will pick up the tab.

CalPERS says its pension benefits are only 79% funded, leaving the state, and its taxpayers, on the hook for the other 21%. According to a recent report from Reason Foundation, CalPERS’ pension shortfall is approximately $180 billion.

The 71% loss comes to over $330 million…

…for which private equity firms were paid at least $22 million in fees and costs.

CalPERS has not been forthcoming regarding specifics of how it flushed away the money.

Had the money put into the [CalPERS Clean Energy & Technology Fund] been passively invested in an S&P 500 index fund, with dividends reinvested, the fund would have been worth approximately $3 billion.

But that would not have saved a planet imperiled by the alleged menace of anthropogenic global warming.

The Obama legacy endures in California, which continues his policy of wasting vast amounts of taxpayer money on green energy boondoggles, possibly to launder it on behalf of those with a seat at the table.

Taxpayers Spent Big on Security for Hunter Biden

We will never know how many $millions if not $billions the degenerate scumbag Hunter Biden raked in by serving as bagman for the notoriously corrupt Joe Biden’s influence peddling. The Big Guy bestowed upon Hunter a blanket pardon for his many crimes, which include felony tax evasion. Yet even with all the money Hunter saves by not paying his taxes like the rest of us, indulging in the lifestyle of the rich & famous costs so much that he has needed us to pay for his security as he jets around to glamorous locations.

The Center Square reports:

The Biden administration spent more than $10 million over three years on a security detail and related expenses for former First Son Hunter Biden after denying similar protections to other high-profile political figures, documents obtained by the Center to Advance Security in America and shared exclusively with The Center Square show.

Reveals CASA Director James Fitzpatrick:

“What we found is that while the Secret Service denied protection to [then presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.], and failed to properly protect President [Donald] Trump resulting in two assassination attempts, Hunter Biden was enjoying a robust detail wherever he traveled, including trips to Nantucket, South Africa, and the Virgin Islands.”

RFK Jr’s father and uncle had both been assassinated.

Despite the lavish spending on Hunter, underfunding has been offered as an excuse for the Secret Service’s deterioration in operational capacity.

At least taxpayers didn’t pick up the tab for Hunter’s cocaine habit — I hope.

Ilhan Omar Worth $30 Million

Ilhan Omar arrived in the USA as a penniless refugee from her own failed country, the most corrupt nation on earth. She is known for her anti-American rhetoric and for siding with our terrorist enemies. However, as Chico Escuela might say, America has been berry berry good to her:

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) reported a net worth of up to $30 million in her latest financial disclosure — a document filed just months after the congresswoman dismissed claims she was a millionaire as “ridiculous” and “categorically false.”

She also called this information “disinformation,” suggesting that a sufficiently powerful Democratic Party might crack down on those who disseminate it.

The disclosure, filed in May, shows the far-left “Squad” lawmaker and her husband, Tim Mynett, experienced a roughly 3,500% increase in net worth last year, compared to 2023.

At least her husband isn’t her brother.

The surge in wealth detailed in Omar’s disclosure is the result of an explosion in the value of assets held by her husband’s venture capital firm and winery.

It sure didn’t come from the $174,000 salary she is paid to represent her fellow Somalis.

Regarding the husband’s firm,

Rose Lake Capital’s assets were valued at between $5,000,000 and $25,000,000 by the end of 2024. The company had less than $1,000 in assets the previous year.

Fellow Democrat Nancy Pelosi is infamous for allegedly laundering massive insider trading fortunes through her husband.

Notably, income from the venture capital firm is listed as “none” in 2024 but between $15,000 and $50,000 the previous year.

If it smells like a rat and squeaks like a rat and in Ilhan’s case even looks kind of like a rat, it is probably a rat.

CNN Admits to Lisa Cook Smoking Guns

Thanks to information presented on CNN’s The Arena, even the clueless Jonah Goldberg now knows that like Adam Schiff, the childishly Trump-hating Lisa Cook likely committed mortgage fraud and needs to look for a job other than Federal Reserve Governor — assuming her DEI qualifications can keep her out of prison:

Met the Dem Reps: Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick

Democrats have their own version of a famous proverb: If at first you don’t succeed, cheat.

Before she assumed office in 2022, Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D., Fla.) was a perennial candidate on the fringes, challenging incumbent Alcee Hastings (D., Fla.) in the 2018 and 2020 primaries. She raised less than $110,000 during those campaigns, both of which she lost in landslides.

Hastings died in 2021.

Cherfilus-McCormick wound up taking his vacated seat after winning a December 2021 primary election by just five votes. This time, money wasn’t a concern—Cherfilus-McCormick put $2.6 million of her own money into her campaign, a major feat for someone who reported earning only $86,000 the year prior.

Here’s how she got the money:

The same day Hastings died, the Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM) received an invoice from Trinity Health Care Services, whose CEO at the time was Cherfilus-McCormick. It was the first of 17 invoices that Trinity submitted to the state in spring 2021 that brought the firm $5.8 million in taxpayer funds “that it was not entitled to and had not earned,” the FDEM later alleged in a December 2024 lawsuit accusing the company of theft by “conversion.” Trinity didn’t return those mispaid funds in 2021. Instead, it paid $6.2 million in “profit sharing fees” to Cherfilus-McCormick, who then doled out more than $4.2 million in loans to her 2021 and 2022 campaigns—efforts that raised less than $280,000 from people not named Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick.

As a member of Congress, she now has authority to spend our money.

Regarding the congresscrook she replaced:

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals concluded that Hastings had committed perjury, tampered with evidence, and conspired to accept bribes, recommending his impeachment to the House of Representatives in 1987. The House adopted 17 articles of impeachment in 1988 by a vote of 413–3. In 1989, the Senate convicted Hastings on eight of the articles, including charges of bribery, perjury, and falsifying documents, and removed him from office. However, the Senate did not disqualify him from holding future office.

So his Broward/Palm Beach County district — the most Democrat-infested district in Florida — went back to electing him. He was reelected so many times that he achieved a leadership position on the Foreign Affairs and Rules Committees as well as the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

No doubt it helps that he was the Historic First African American Federal Judge in Florida, appointed by moonbat favorite Jimmy Carter himself and boasting six arrests acquired at “civil rights” demonstrations.

Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick also benefits from politically preferred pigmentation. Watch her star rise.

Another Historic First for New Orleans Mayor

Elect a Democrat named LaToya and reap the reward:

Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orleans, Louisiana, became the first sitting mayor in the city’s history to be indicted by a federal grand jury Friday.

This is not her first historic first:

Cantrell — the first woman to serve as mayor in the city’s 307-year history — has been charged on counts of conspiracy, wire fraud, false statements, fraud, conspiracy to obstruct justice and false declaration before a grand jury, documents obtained by Fox 8 show.

Historic firsts abound these days. Too bad they aren’t historic lasts.
