Oregon Drops Math and Reading Requirements

If you want to get through life with no effort and have everyone else pay for everything, the Democrat Party is for you, provided you can’t see very far ahead. Under Democrat rule, you don’t have to pay your rent. You may not have to pay your utilities bill. You don’t have to pay your student loans. In Oregon, you don’t even have to learn math or how to read:

Gov. Kate Brown, the Oregon Democrat, signed a bill last month with little fanfare that drops the requirement that high school students prove proficiency in reading, writing or math before graduation, a report said.

“With little fanfare” is putting it mildly. Signing the bill into law was not made public until recently. It’s almost as if even Kate Brown knows enough to be ashamed of what Democrats are doing to the country.

The suspension of requirements is for 3 years, but could last as long as 5 years, at which time it may be extended, if legislators still remember what the word “math” means. As with the moratoriums on paying rent and student loans, Covid was the original pretext.

Charles Boyle, the deputy communications director from Brown’s office … said that the new standards for graduation will help benefit the state’s “Black, Latino, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color.”

Among liberals, you can justify anything by pretending it advantages people who are not hated whites.

The bad news for lazy students is that the communist ChiComs are not suspending their math and reading requirements. Eventually, Americans will have to go to the trouble to learn Chinese, so as to be able to follow orders.
