Automobile manufacturers tend to play along with the leftist politics. Usually, this can be explained in terms of lavish government subsidies and bailouts. There are also lesser reasons. For example, Volvo has announced that it will replace genuine leather with cheesy synthetic fabric on behalf of moonbattery:
Volvo said on Thursday that its vehicle range will go leather-free or ‘vegan-friendly’ by 2030, offering instead bio-based and recycled materials to a customer base that increasingly wants sustainably sourced products.
According to leftist doctrine, electric cars benefit the environment (despite evidence to the contrary). Consequently, Volvo proclaims all its cars will be electric by 2030.
Volvo’s current all-electric C40 Recharge model is already leather-free, and the company is exploring using materials such as Nordico – made from forestry byproducts, recycled corks and plastic bottles – that head of design Page said has the same “softness and warmth” as leather.
Or at least, it will have the same high price as leather — if not higher.
On a tip from Wiggins.
