Call for Abolition of Parenthood
Leftists undermined marriage by conflating holy matrimony with unnatural sexual arrangements. The next step could be to abolish parenthood. Tongue in cheek, Joe Mathews cuts to the chase in the Ventura County Star (republished by Yahoo News):
Fathers and mothers with greater wealth and education are more likely to transfer these advantages to their children, compounding privilege over generations. As a result, children of less advantaged parents face an uphill struggle, social mobility has stalled, and democracy has been corrupted. …
My solution — making raising your own children illegal — is simple, and while we wait for the legislation to pass, we can act now: the rich and poor should trade kids, and homeowners might swap children with their homeless neighbors.
The author tips his hand by writing, “my proposal is quite modest.” The reference is to Jonathan Swift’s 1729 satirical tract “A Modest Proposal,” which called for addressing both orphanhood and hunger by having the poor sell their babies as food.
Mathews says his own proposal would please Democrats in that it would “dismantle white supremacy and outdated gender norms.” He concludes that those who would oppose his proposal “can’t see how our relentless pursuit of equity might birth a brave new world,” tipping his hand again by referring to the nightmarish dystopia envisioned by Aldous Huxley.
Apparently afraid of being denounced as a conservative, he undermines the piece with lame snipes at countermoonbats. Republicans should support his proposal because they supposedly put the children illegal aliens are encouraged to bring with them to avoid deportation into “border concentration camps.” According to Mathews, “it’s a short walk to separating all Americans from their progeny.” Then he attempts to connect “universal orphanhood” with Amy Coney Barrett’s suggestion that unwanted children should be put up for adoption rather than killed in the womb.

Like the Babylon Bee, the piece is just barely still parody. Before long, progressives may propose this for real. Leftists have always opposed family, because the institution stands in opposition to ultimate state power. It also holds civilization together. Undermining it has had a predictable effect on society.
