Amazon Astro: Robot Home Chaperone

In case you weren’t convinced yet that we are living in a dystopian science fiction movie — and not a very good one — Amazon introduces a personal robot that can rove around your home spying on you and report to others on your activities:

Amazon … announced an autonomous dog-like robot named Astro that uses artificial intelligence and mapping technology to zoom around the house. It’s packed with cameras to record what it sees so users can check in on pets or elderly loved ones when they’re away. It can also respond to voice-assistant commands.

The company said it didn’t want to just put Alexa on wheels; it wanted to add eyes, unique sounds and make it approachable, even cute.

The allegedly cute robot launches later this year, in plenty of time to take part in Covid hysteria. It might come in handy for monitoring those under house arrest for not being sufficiently vaccinated. No word on whether it fires laser beams at those who take their masks off.

Why the Ruling Elite Is Anti-American

The Administrative state, which is imposed on us by the liberal ruling class regardless of who we vote for, is anticonstitutional and anti-American. It is not a legitimate government, because even as it imposes tyranny in the most picayune manner, it refuses to perform the fundamental duties of government, such as keeping crime under control and defending the border from foreign invasion.

Students would come out of school knowing all this, if all colleges were more like Hillsdale College:

To sum up: our government has become our enemy. It represents progressive ideology and the interests of the ruling elite. It does not represent America, or act in America’s interests — on the contrary, it is often aggressively opposed to them.

Justice for J6 Fails to Constitute Insurrection

The philosophical founder of the modern Democratic Party remarked that “History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.” Now it works differently: first as farce (the January 6 riot), then as more pathetic farce (Justice for J6).

The original farce was when lax security allowed (and even explicitly invited) a handful of hooligans (possibly egged on by FBI provocateurs) and some well-meaning people who got caught up in the crowd to trespass in the People’s House. The only person who died violently was Ashli Babbitt, who was executed by unpunished, self-praising Capitol Police Officer Michael Byrd. Yet the unscrupulous leftists comprising the mainstream media and Democrat Party hyped the incident to the point that many liberals may literally believe that the guy in the buffalo costume nearly overthrew the US Government to install Donald Trump as Dictator for Life. The possibly treasonous Mark Milley tried to twist the event into a “Reichstag moment.”

Those who took part have been hunted down and imprisoned under atrocious conditions, in stark contrast to the participants in the many hundreds of Black Lives Matter/Antifa riots indulged in with Democrat encouragement last year. On Saturday, the liberal establishment attempted to exploit the Justice for J6 protest against their unjust treatment by hyping it into a second “insurrection.” This was even more of a farce.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin approved calling up 100 National Guard troops to defend the Biden Administration from the protesters. Like all things related to January 6, this was theater — more specifically, theater of the absurd.

Breitbart reports on how it turned out:

Photos and video taken around the Capitol show media and police, many heavily armed and in riot gear, vastly outnumbered protesters, who were gathered in support of defendants detained in connection with the January 6 Capitol attack.

Journalists alone reportedly outnumbered the entirely peaceful protesters, despite their numbers being swollen by cartoonishly obvious undercover FBI agents posing as right-wing extremists by dressing up as frat boys with fashy haircuts.

Authorities managed to find a protester with a gun. Unsurprisingly, he turned out to be yet another FBI infiltrator.

Meanwhile, the January 6 protesters still rot away in prison, effectively as political prisoners, and Ashli Babbitt is still dead.

As Andrea Widburg notes,

[A]lmost ten months after January 6, Americans are being held under miserable circumstances without the benefit of a “speedy and public trial,” and without being “informed of the nature and cause of the accusation” against each of them.

The extremely low turnout of actual protesters at Justice for J6 may be because conservatives tend to be responsible people with families and jobs. They cannot afford to spend 10 months cooling their heels in a DC jail. Democrat intimidation appears to be working.

Beware of the Tyrant Variant

JP Sears is best known for comedy, but his topic in the video below is no laughing matter. He raises the alarm regarding a highly infectious variant of a terrible disease. Its potential long-term damage makes Covid look like a mild cold.

Some call it authoritarian moonbattery; Sears calls it the tyrant variant:

JP’s metaphor illustrating why the authorities want to atomize us by preventing us from socializing is especially apt. Leftist are like hyenas that can only take down lions they have separated from the pride. Heaven help the hideous beasts when the pride responds.

Tour a Soviet Gulag

Now that we are crossing the line into straightforward tyranny under a government run by neo-Marxists, it is a good time to review the recent past of Russia, since our near future is likely to resemble it unless we change course. Other gulags that once stretched across the USSR in a vast archipelago have been erased, but the corrective labor colony Perm-36, near the village of Kuchino at the edge of Siberia, is still standing. Let’s take a tour:

Everyone knows about Auschwitz, but Perm-36 is more relevant to the times we are being led into. That’s why we have been told less about it.

Small Joke Leads to Big Trouble in Roseburg, Oregon

Not long ago, they asked for tolerance. Now, they demand reverence. There is no tolerance for even the most harmless levity where our transsexual overlords are concerned. This applies not only in large cities that have succumbed to degeneracy but even in small towns like lonely Roseburg, Oregon (pop. 23,379).

The News-Review reports that the Roseburg City Council had scheduled a discussion of…

…possible sanctions against Council President Bob Cotterell for comments he made about gender identity that have been called inappropriate and transphobic, and led to calls for his resignation.

Cotterell’s initial transgression occurred during preparations for a biweekly City Council Zoom meeting in June:

One of the councilors had misspelled their name on a roster and another quipped that they had considered using a woman’s first name in jest.

“Well that’s fine, you’re in Oregon,” Cotterell said, according to others who heard it. “You can be a boy today and a girl tomorrow.”

Feathers flew. Cotterell’s light-hearted remark was denounced vociferously. The entire City Council was attacked for not attacking him.

Then, Cotterell did the unthinkable. Rather than issue the standard groveling apology and beg for forgiveness, he committed the political faux pas of placing objective reality before LGBT ideology. As the press put it:

Cotterell then doubled down, dismissing the criticism as an example of political correctness gone too far. He said his stance on gender identity is rooted in science and dismissed the notion that individuals should be allowed to self-identify their gender.

That is, he held to the logically irrefutable position that people are what they are, regardless of what they say they are. Such impudence will not be forgiven.

Another Councilmember calls for Cotterell to undergo “inclusion, equity, and diversity” indoctrination. He is likely to face one or more sanctions:

Those include not being recognized to speak at meetings, being reprimanded or formally censured by the council, losing commission assignments and having official travel restricted.

Can we call it totalitarianism yet?
