Eco-Mandated Paper Bags Are a Pain

One consequence of moonbat micromanagement is micro-oppression. Via ABC7 Gay Area:

Some Bay Area shoppers are frustrated after Safeway has stopped offering handles [on] its paper grocery bags, citing a supply chain problem. …

“Cheap bag just ripped right there!” one shopper said while loading groceries into his SUV.

Too bad he can’t use vastly more efficient plastic bags, which allow you to carry large quantities of groceries easily. Now the paper bags don’t even have handles, making them still more inferior.

Nick Vyas, executive director [of the Randall R. Kendrick Global Supply Chain Institute] at the University of Southern California, said the shortage [of usable bags] stems from several factors, including tariffs on Canadian lumber, Indonesia revoking lumber permits, and California’s ban on plastic bags that took effect earlier this year.

Regarding the latter, Vyas piously praised “this environmentally-conscious decision, which is a right thing to do.”

California voters have earned the paper bags, which without handles are almost impossible to carry without tears and spills if you have more than two.

If only all consequences of tyrannical enviroposturing were this insignificant.

Katie Porter Is a Freak Too

So that the jungle primary would not leave only two Republicans on the ballot, Democrats were forced to throw Eric Swalwell under the bus. Now the liberal vote is less diluted, with the choice narrowed down to screwball moonbat plutocrat Tom Steyer and Katie Porter.

Regarding the latter:

As the New York Post recalls,

Porter made headlines last year for her outburst at TV a reporter before being exposed for berating a staffer and throwing a tantrum during a televised interview.

Like Swalwell, she is said to be abusive toward the opposite sex:

Katie Porter has been accused by her ex-husband, Matthew Hoffman, of physically and verbally abusing him during their marriage, including dumping scalding-hot mashed potatoes on his head in 2006 because she was dissatisfied with how he was preparing dinner, according to divorce records and multiple media reports. Hoffman, who filed for divorce in 2013, also alleged that Porter routinely called him a “f—ing idiot,” shattered a glass coffee pot in anger, and prevented him from having a cell phone because she said he was “too f—ing dumb to operate it.”

A more unappealing human being than Katie Porter would be difficult to imagine. But she would be an appropriate figurehead for California Democrats. Then again, so would the zillionaire climate kook Steyer — who will probably be the next governor and destroy the economy in the name of the weather.

California Introduces Stop Nick Shirley Act

Nick Shirley is a genuine journalist, in stark contrast to the incurious propagandists comprising the liberal establishment media. To learn what would happen to genuine journalists were Democrats to consolidate power, look to places where leftism has prevailed, like China, Cuba — or California.

California State Assemblymember Carl DeMaio sounds the alarm:

DeMaio is slamming state Democrats for voting to advance a controversial new law (AB 2624) to silence citizen journalists and shield taxpayer-funded organizations from public scrutiny.

What DeMaio calls the “Stop Nick Shirley Act,” Democrats bleat is all about protecting the put-upon colonists they have imported from the Third World to displace American voters:

AB 2624 claims to be about protecting immigrant organizations from “threats of violence,” when in fact the legislation would apply to any left-wing group that claims to provide any services to legal or illegal immigrants. For example, under AB 2624 entities like the Somali “Learing” Daycare centers would all be covered if they operated inside California.

These phony daycare centers set up to facilitate the massive fraud permitted by Democrats like Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison were famously exposed by Shirley.

AB 2624 would allow activists and taxpayer-funded organizations to demand the removal of video evidence — even if it captures misconduct in plain view — and threatens journalists with massive financial penalties.

Again we see that the Democratic Party is the party of crime. As DeMaio puts it,

“If this bill becomes law, the message is clear to every journalist in California: expose corruption and you will be punished.”

It is no surprise that the Democrats who dominate California want to shut Shirley down. If he is as successful unmasking fraud there as he has been in Minnesota, it will make clinging to power more difficult.

Eric Swalwell Gets #Metooed

Democrat voters don’t mind that Eric Swalwell was played by a Chinese spy in a honeytrap, that he threatened to imprison ICE agents for defending the country, that he refers to God as “God herself,” that he wants to demolish the new White House ballroom out of sheer malice, that he blames Trump even for the wind turning over an airplane in Canada, that he loses his mind over AI-generated pictures of Trump protecting cats, that he farts loudly on camera, or that he is obnoxiously cheesy even by the standards of the state that gave us Gavin Newsom. They would even forgive his poetry. But now he has been #metooed.

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

A woman who worked for nearly two years for Rep. Eric Swalwell, a leading candidate for California governor, said she had sexual encounters with him while he was her boss and alleged he twice sexually assaulted her when she was too intoxicated to consent.

Her allegations are horrific:

Swalwell messaged her on Snapchat, she said, sending images of his genitals…

From there it got worse. Swalwell has issued a denial and threatens to sue.

One problem with being a reptile is that the other reptiles will turn on you fast:

On Friday afternoon, shortly after the Chronicle published an initial version of this story, Swalwell allies including both chairs of his campaign — Democratic Reps. Jimmy Gomez of Los Angeles and Adam Gray of Turlock (Stanislaus County) — began withdrawing their endorsements and calling on him to drop out of the gubernatorial race. Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, one of Swalwell’s most powerful allies, also called on him to leave the race.

So has Pelosi’s successor as top House Democrat, Hakeem Jeffries.

Swalwell’s former buddy Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) is a lowlife too, having abandoned his nearly 9-months pregnant wife (current Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego). But even Gallego has revoked his endorsement. Here are the amigos in happier times:

The creepazoid Adam Schiff has also withdrawn his endorsement. So has SEIU California.

The floodgates have been opened:

Several hours after the Chronicle published the woman’s account, CNN published a story that included allegations from three more women of inappropriate behavior by Swalwell.

With California’s jungle primaries, the top two candidates end up on the ballot. This could mean they are both Republicans: Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco. So Democrats don’t want their votes diluted. The guy with the most baggage has been thrown overboard to reduce the number of candidates.

California can still manage to go downhill even from Gavin Newsom by electing Katie Porter.

Gavin Newsom’s Wife Suggests Most Criminals Are Innocent

We already knew that Gavin Newsom’s wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom is a delusional moonbat. Yet revelations of her lunatic wokedness continue to astonish.

The New York Post reports:

In what appears to be a years-old video clip making viral rounds on X this week, Siebel Newsom recalls sharing a moment with young adult inmates at the notorious San Quentin prison in Marin County, Calif.

“I told them about my own loss,” she said, referring to a 1981 incident in which Jennifer, then 6, killed her elder sister in a golf cart accident in Hawaii.

The convicts, she continued, “ultimately were accused of committing these violent crimes, and sentenced for life. And I think it shocked them that this blonde lady … had a similar story, and was perhaps in the wrong place at the wrong time –– but wasn’t punished the way they were, because clearly, it was an accident; but theirs was probably an accident, too.”

She is referring to hardcore criminals:

While the left has rebranded San Quentin a “rehabilitation center” in recent years, the lockup has traditionally housed hardened, violent criminals –– including nearly all of those on death row in California until Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a moratorium on the state’s death penalty in 2019.

As the entitlement fraud that has been allowed to rage out of control in California would suggest, her husband shares her pro-criminal inclinations:

The naive-at-best comments are not a good look for Siebel Newsom and her husband, who’s recently taken fire for enabling “elderly parole” for 50- and 60-something child predators.

From the viewpoint of kooks like the Newsoms, criminals are not the bad guys; we are the bad guys for wanting criminals in jail just because they happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and accidently broke the law.

California Wastes Fortune on Dubious Workers’ Comp Claims

Gavin Newsom’s $125 billion train to nowhere is not the only way the moonbats who rule California have of wasting taxpayer money. The New York Post reports on the looting that takes place via a state workers’ compensation program:

Called the Subsequent Injuries Benefits Trust Fund, the program provides extra benefits to employees covered by state workers’ compensation who sustain an on-the-job injury.

Such injuries evidently include not being able to achieve an erection — a problem that will become increasingly prevalent as California dissolves into liberalism. Payments of $1,700 per week for life are doled out for complaints like headache, allergies, acid reflux, and sexual dysfunction.

It didn’t used to be quite this crazy. But then the liberal courts stepped in.

The California Courts of Appeal decision required a generous interpretation of disability claims — spiking annual employer costs to between $2 billion and $3 billion, the audit noted.

Additionally, a growing backlog could push total liabilities past $20 billion within “a few years.”

Good thing other people’s money is free.

Estimated Cost of Gavin Newsom’s Train to Nowhere Reaches Outrageous New Extreme

To get an idea of how fast President Gavin Newsom would bankrupt the United States, consider his high-speed rail boondoggle.

The Daily Mail reports:

It was also supposed to cost just $33billion but Anthony Williams, a member of the state’s high speed rail board, said in a 60 Minutes interview that it will quadruple by the time it’s finished.

‘Today, we estimate with the right optimization just over $125billion. I think $126billion is the current estimate for that,’ Williams said.

‘That’s more funding than Amtrak has received in its history and still leaves a shortfall of roughly $90 billion.’

Other estimates are still higher:

In a press release, the DOT noted ‘the $135 billion projected total cost of the project could buy every San Francisco and LA resident nearly 200 roundtrip flights between the cities.’

Imagine how high the cost would climb if Newsom could print his own money.
