Eco-Tech Breakthrough: Cardboard Boxes Cats Can Play In

It is more cost-effective to strike a politically correct pose than it is to offer consumers a better product. So corporations greenwash. This practice has reached such an extreme of self-parody that we are told to buy products because they come in cardboard boxes, which “save the planet” because cats can play in them.

Actual quote from PC Mag:

Finally, a way to save the planet, give your cat something fun, and showcase your imagination.

Watch fast, in case they discover the egg on their faces and take it down:

Cats have been playing in cardboard boxes since a cat first encountered one. But now it saves the planet, so buy something from Samsung.

Best Buy Collects the Wages of Wokeness

The wages of wokeness is ruin. Best Buy is in a position to collect, having indulged in woke posturing on behalf of the Black Lives Matter–loving ultraleft by offering counseling to employees traumatized by the failure to immolate Kyle Rittenhouse. Karma delivers the just desserts:

A group of between 20 and 30 people robbed a Best Buy in Burnsville, Minn., on Black Friday, stealing an unknown amount of merchandise.

Best Buy corporate headquarters are 10 miles away in Richfield, Minnesota.

The group overtook the Best Buy around 8 p.m., according to a spokeswoman for the Burnsville Police Department, stealing electronics and other merchandise. The suspects fled before police arrived.

Please don’t refer to this as looting unless it can be confirmed that all of the looters were white — which isn’t likely, since race isn’t mentioned. Black Lives Matter established looting as an affirmation of civil rights last year in the course of hundreds of riots.

[Spokeswoman Carissa] Larsen said she could not recall another incident like this one in recent history, but police do not at this time believe the crime could happen again.

Chirps Carissa,

“We don’t have any reason to believe this isn’t a one-off thing.”

She must rely on CNN for news to be unaware of the ongoing epidemic of similar incidents occurring across the country.

Also on Friday, police said a smaller group broke into another Best Buy in a mall near Burnsville.

If only they had put out signs proclaiming their allegiance to Black Lives Matter…

Best Buy Offers Counseling Over Rittenhouse Verdict

Pattern recognition is an important aspect of intelligence. Unless they have been deliberately contrived by social engineers (e.g., bumbling white males in TV commercials), stereotypes exist because they represent patterns that we recognize in the real world. Take for example the stereotypical woke snowflake, who needs smelling salts if exposed to anything that deviates from absolute compliance with liberal ideology. This type is so common that even the militant moonbats who run human resource departments at woke corporations acknowledge it:

Best Buy, the technology retailer, offered “mental health resources” and “counseling services” to its employees after the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict was announced.

Snowflakes melt when reminded of the vast chasm between the liberal narrative and reality. According to the former, anyone who resists Black Lives Matter rioters as they loot and sets fires is a racist who must be destroyed. According to the latter, Kyle Rittenhouse is a decent if naive kid who justly defended his life from sociopaths who were trying to kill him.

Mark Irvin, Chief Inclusion, Diversity, and Talent Officer at Best Buy, doesn’t seem to like it that the railroading of Rittenhouse failed. He bleats:

We can do better, and we will do better, as each of us as individuals, allies, and human beings press [sic] together for better outcomes.

A “better” outcome in this case would have been an innocent boy getting immolated as a sacrifice to the wicked gods of leftist ideology.

Distiller Tells Us Not to Drink Its Rittenhouse Rye

Sound business practice and moonbattery are mutually exclusive. You can only pursue one at the expense of the other. In the era of corporate wokism, this means business practices are what you would expect if companies were run by lunatics bent on self-destruction. For example:

In an odd marketing move, whiskey and bourbon distiller and distributor Heaven Hill posted a statement to its official Twitter account Sunday asking people who are buying its ‘Rittenhouse’ branded rye not to purchase the drink if they intend to use it to cheer the verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. …

The brand name is derived not from the recent court case but from Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, an open-space park designed by William Penn and named for an early 19th-century papermaker.

A jury braved the intimidation of the leftist mob to find Rittenhouse not guilty after he defended himself against maniacal sociopaths who were trying to kill him. But he is guilty anyway in the eyes of the woke, because they perceive him as an opponent of the Marxist racists of Black Lives Matter (although he says he supports BLM, sadly).

Some countermoonbats plan to defy the distillers by buying their product. But considering how many great distillers there are in Kentucky alone, if Heaven Hill would rather we drink something else, it makes sense to oblige:

Boycott Black Rifle Coffee

Looks like Black Rifle Coffee is on board with the campaign to remake the military in the image of liberal degeneracy. WARNING — this is tasteless in the extreme:

That was consistent with the emphasis top brass places on “diversity” rather than combat effectiveness under Commander in Chief Joe Biden.

These days virtually every company rams moonbattery down your throat. You can’t boycott all of them. But the ones that position themselves as conservative alternatives, then turn around and pander to leftists deserve special consideration. Chick-fil-A comes to mind. So does Black Rifle Coffee.

Via Big League Politics:

Black Rifle Coffee earned their name as a “conservative” alternative to Starbucks run by former members of the United States Military.

However,

Evan Hafer, the company founder, publicly disavowed Kenosha Hero Kyle Rittenhouse and condemned conservatives. Hafer also scrapped a coffee bag featuring Saint Michael The Archangel because he felt that it would appeal to white supremacists. Saint Michael is commonly seen as the patron-saint of the military and first responders and theologically is the leader of God’s army of angels in the New Testament.

Saint Michael has been canceled for reminding moonbats of white supremacists.

No need to drink Starbucks, although that would be better than Black Rifle. There are other alternatives — including Stocking Mill Coffee, which defies the liberal establishment by celebrating justice being served in Kenosha:

Biden Regime to Politicize Retirement Savings

Did you work hard your whole life to prepare a secure retirement? That’s too bad. Biden and his handlers are politicizing 401(k) investments. Your retirement may not be so secure after all.

The Wall Street Journal reports on a rule Biden’s Labor Department proposes to inflict on your retirement nest egg in the name of leftist ideology:

The Administration says the rule will make it easier for retirement plans to offer 401(k) funds focused on ESG (environmental, social and governance) objectives.

ESG is a euphemism for moonbattery. As noted recently, pursuing ESG rather than profits wastes investors’ money. With the government involved, it means you will be compelled to invest in financial sinkholes of leftist lunacy.

Trump’s Labor Department left us with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

The rule prevented pension plans and asset managers from considering ESG factors like climate, workforce diversity and political donations unless they had a “material [beneficial] effect on the return and risk of an investment.”

Biden’s handlers want to turn this upside down, so that asset managers are required to prioritize leftist ideology over return on investment, at the risk of being sued.

As usual, corporatist (a.k.a. fascist) Democrats have corrupt collaborators in the private sector:

Asset managers like BlackRock are pushing to create ESG 401(k) funds in part because they can charge higher fees. … This difference can reduce retirement savings by tens of thousands of dollars over a few decades.

The Biden rule would let plan sponsors enroll workers in ESG 401(k) funds as the default, so workers could unknowingly end up paying higher fees. It also threatens retirement plan sponsors with legal liability if they don’t support progressive shareholder resolutions, such as those requiring companies to reduce CO2 emissions or disclose political donations.

Forcing companies to reduce harmless carbon emissions will have zero measurable impact on the allegedly problematic weather. But it could have plenty impact on your rate of return.

Progressives are moving across the Biden Administration to steer private capital to implement an agenda they can’t pass through Congress. Your savings will be conscripted to advance the progressive agenda, whether you like it or not.

Next, they will come for IRAs. There is no limit to Democrats’ lust for power and greed for other people’s money.

ESG: From Woke to Broke

According to the esthetics of our liberal ruling class, profits are icky. Businesses are supposed to pursue moonbattery instead — or as the suits call leftist ideology, ESG (environmental/social/governance).

The purpose of any company is to make a profit. If it pursues anything else as a primary objective, it has been subverted. Profit is what makes businesses work. As Pepperdine University’s Andy Puzder observes, this is a good thing:

“The genius of capitalism is that it requires businesses to do good things for society to make a profit. … In a free enterprise system, you can’t make money without providing a social good.”

In contrast, little if any good comes from leftist politics, except for the privileged few who end up in power.

Why then don’t businesses stick to business instead of wallowing in wokeness? As with all things left-wing, it comes down to phony posturing and control.

Do not expect to avoid the consequences of ESG idiocy. If you have a 401K, it is costing you money — potentially, a lot of money.

Volvo to Save Planet by Using Cheesy Synthetic Leather

Automobile manufacturers tend to play along with the leftist politics. Usually, this can be explained in terms of lavish government subsidies and bailouts. There are also lesser reasons. For example, Volvo has announced that it will replace genuine leather with cheesy synthetic fabric on behalf of moonbattery:

Volvo said on Thursday that its vehicle range will go leather-free or ‘vegan-friendly’ by 2030, offering instead bio-based and recycled materials to a customer base that increasingly wants sustainably sourced products.

According to leftist doctrine, electric cars benefit the environment (despite evidence to the contrary). Consequently, Volvo proclaims all its cars will be electric by 2030.

Volvo’s current all-electric C40 Recharge model is already leather-free, and the company is exploring using materials such as Nordico – made from forestry byproducts, recycled corks and plastic bottles – that head of design Page said has the same “softness and warmth” as leather.

Or at least, it will have the same high price as leather — if not higher.
