Zohran Mamdani: Final Nail in New York’s Coffin

The good news: the political comeback of the blood-covered, staggeringly wasteful Covid tyrant Andrew Cuomo has stalled. The bad news: New Yorkers managed to find someone even worse:

Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani quoted former South African President and activist Nelson Mandela as he declared victory in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary on Tuesday.

If you like what Mandela and his successors have done to formerly First World South Africa, you will love what Mamdani does to New York.

The primary was as good as the general election. New York is too far down the Democrat Death Spiral for anyone to seriously challenge the cancer calling itself the Democratic Party.

During his campaign, Mamdani…

…pledged to freeze rent, establish city-run grocery stores, and devote $65 million to transgender procedures for both kids and adults. Mamdani has also promised to make school lunches, city buses, and childcare free, and to establish a “Department of Community Safety” to “prevent violence before it happens” — which critics say is simply an effort to defund the police.

Mamdani personifies not merely the radical left but the lunatic left.

Also on the ballot Tuesday was Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. A soft-on-crime Soros prosecutor best known for his relentless pursuit of President Donald Trump, Bragg easily defeated his sole challenger to secure the Democratic nomination.

Bragg stands for the weaponization of the judicial system to punish resistance to leftism. Under this anarchotyrant, criminals run free why Donald Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts of nothing in particular.

When I fled New York 20 years ago in horror of what it was deteriorating into, I had no idea it would get this bad.

Mamdani promised those who choose not to escape from New York the city they deserve:

For once a moonbat politician could make good on a promise.

$1 Billion NYC Deal to House Moochers in Hotels

Riding around on a bicycle ratting out delivery drivers who leave their engine running can provide a nice living in moonbat-ruled New York City, but the big money is elsewhere:

The Adams administration has inked a nearly $1 billion contract with the hotel industry for emergency shelter space…

Taxpayers are on the hook for the $929.1 million reupped with the Hotel Association of New York City Foundation as the total city population still includes a whopping 86,000 people, including homeless individuals and asylum seekers.

“Asylum seekers” are better known as “illegal immigrants” or more accurately, “foreign invaders.”

Meanwhile, as hordes of moochers luxuriate in hotels at public expense, tourists avoid New York not only because liberalism has reduced it to a cesspool but because hotel rooms are prohibitively expensive due to scarcity.

Fortunately, NYC doesn’t need money from tourists. It can seize as much as it wants from the taxpayers who have not yet fled.

Or maybe it will manage to bleed taxpayers dry:

The overall cost to house migrants per night is $352 — including $130 to hotels for the room rental, city officials said last year.

Too bad NYC can’t print money to finance open borders like the Biden Regime was doing.

New York Leftists Come After Cows

At its most fundamental level, leftist ideology is anti-human. Cows provide a large percentage of the human diet. So leftism is also anti-cow:

A New York bill that would restrict the size of cattle farms has sparked controversy as urban climate change legislators from the Big Apple seek to limit rural livelihoods by imposing regulatory limits on the number of cows a farm can have.

That is, regulatory limits on the amount of food that can be made available.

Sponsored by downstate Democrats and several members of the Democratic Socialists of America, NY State Senate Bill 2025-S6530 “Prohibits the department of environmental conservation from issuing or authorizing any permits to new or expanding large concentrated animal feeding operations.”

The pretexts are that farms engage in capitalism and that cows offend the weather with flatulence. “Concentrated animal feeding operations,” according to the draft bill, “are often run by large corporations that squeeze out local competition to maximize profits” and “release significant amounts of methane, a greenhouse gas.”

The first people hurt would be family farmers:

The Northeast Dairy Producer Association reports that New York is the fifth-largest dairy-producing state in the country and that 95% of its farms are family-owned.

The proposed 700-cow limit is only the beginning. Progressives progress by increments. Unless the weather becomes perfect and farms stop making profits, eventually farms would not be allowed to have any cows at all.

Jones Beach Succumbs to Teens

Summer is a great time to relax on the beach — unless the beach is within 33 miles of a city as far gone as New York, like Jones Beach:

What was supposed to be a carefree day at the beach turned chaotic Thursday evening, as police were forced to break up a crowd of approximately 500 teenagers who had gathered at Jones Beach for an unofficial “Senior Cut Day.”

According to state park officials, the teens were from high schools in Queens and Nassau County.

As you might expect,

Witnesses described a scene that quickly spiraled out of control.

Authorities reported several physical altercations throughout the evening.

When liberalism has reached full flower, the human race will consist entirely of teens running around in loin cloths and using rocks to bash each other’s brains in.

The incident comes less than a one week after officials in nearby Long Beach closed their beaches preemptively to prevent a similar gathering.

You can have usable public beaches, or you can have hordes of teens on the loose. You can’t have both.

Longtime beachgoers say the recent trend is a stark contrast to the peaceful summers of the past.

But we now live in more enlightened times.

Crime Skyrockets in AOC’s District

In Denver, we see how to get crime to go down: deport illegal aliens. In New York, we see how to get it to rise: elect moonbats like the Future of the Democratic Party, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:

Major crime rose by an eye-popping 70% in Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Bronx and Queens district since the ‘defund the police’ socialist lawmaker took office in 2019 — more than double the citywide increase of 30% over that same span, a Post analysis of NYPD data shows.

Not everyone is delighted by the progress progressives bestow upon them:

“She’s not doing s–t. She doesn’t live in the neighborhood, she doesn’t care,” vented Elmhurst resident Guadelupe Alvarez, who has lived in the 110th Precinct her whole life and is one of several constituents who ripped the jet-setting absentee “Squad” member for letting the district turn to “trash” while she focuses on elevating herself on the national stage.

Crime in the 110th Precinct is up 105%. Alvarez is a former AOC supporter who now has a brothel across the street from her home.

It would be nice to think she will stop voting for Democrats. But that’s not how it works with most voters, once a jurisdiction has been sucked into the maelstrom known as the Democrat Death Spiral.

As the BLM phenomenon demonstrated, Democrats must view the rising crime their policies produce as not a bug but a feature. Otherwise, they would not deliberately exacerbate it:

At the height of the defund the police movement, Ocasio-Cortez slammed a proposed $1.5 billion cut to the NYPD as not going far enough. That year, New York Finest’s canceled an incoming cadet class that would have added 1,163 officers to the force.

Their war on cops continues:

Last year, she and other “Squad” members voted against a resolution condemning efforts to defund local law enforcement agencies.

Who wants to be a cop with libs like AOC in charge? If they do their job, they are likely to end up like Derek Chauvin.

Again we see that the election of leftist Democrats is both a cause and an effect of societal decay.

Corrupting Kids at the Museum of Natural History

Where the liberal establishment exerts its dominance, children have no safe haven from the campaign to corrupt them with a sick ideology centered on perverted sex — not even at New York’s Museum of Natural History, which recently showcased an animated film about a drag queen fox luring a little boy into transsexualism:

The eight-minute stop-motion animation short titled “Dragfox” – featuring a “charismatic” fox in drag voiced by Sir Ian McKellen — played last weekend on a loop inside the august Milstein Hall in the shadow of the famed 94-foot long blue whale.

In one scene 11-year-old Sam twirls around with his sister’s pink dress, eventually wearing it. The flamboyant fox, “Ginger Snap,” snatches it and breaks into a drag musical number as the duo embark on a “magical journey” in the attic.

One mother fumed that the unwholesome material…

…“was intentionally placed in front of us, in cartoon format, with no posted forewarning, in an exhibit about sea animals.”

Whatever it takes to get children to swallow it.

The museum…

…received at least $17 million in government funding in 2024, according to its financial disclosures.

Jacqueline Toboroff aptly described the presentation as “predatory indoctrination.”

The Museum of Unnatural History isn’t alone. Toboroff observes that the targeting of children via schools, museums, and libraries is “meant to sexually exploit impressionable minds and to mainstream sexual deviance.”

The campaign is working:

New York is among the states with the most gender-affirming care, with 1,154 minors in the state who were sex change patients between 2019 and 2023.

At least there will be plenty of employment opportunities for psychiatrists wherever progressives dominate institutions.

What we tolerate, kids are force-fed ever more of.

New York Feeds Inflation With “Inflation Refund”

If you intended to drive up inflation, what would you do differently than print and waste $zillions on useless green energy boondoggles as in the Inflation Reduction Act? Maybe you would give people free money as an “inflation refund”:

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and state lawmakers have reached a tentative agreement to issue so-called “inflation refund” checks to millions of residents, offering direct payments of up to $400 later this year as part of the state’s $254 billion budget plan. …

The measure is being framed as a way to help residents cope with the continued effects of inflation and the high cost of living across the state.

Too bad they can’t convert irony into cash. Inflation and the high cost of living are largely driven by excessive government spending.

If New York could print its own currency, by now it would be carried in bushel baskets like in the Weimar Republic.

Eligible recipients will not need to take any action to receive the payment.

Of course not. Requiring effort produces disparate impact.

Those with smaller income get a bigger handout. Democrats never miss an opportunity to redistribute wealth.

Stupidity can only explain so much, even with Kathy Hochul & Co. At best, Democrats are too irresponsible to care about the economic consequences of buying votes with other people’s money. At worst, they undermine the economy on purpose in accordance with Vladimir Lenin’s principle “The worse, the better.”

Apparent Letitia James Statue in Times Square

New York Attorney General Letitia James has been in an especially foul mood lately. This might help cheer her up. Looks like they have put up a statue of her in Times Square:

Times Square’s new 12-foot sculpture, Grounded in the Stars, faced online ridicule, with comparisons to New York Attorney General Letitia James.

So it isn’t really Letitia James? That would explain the relatively cheery expression and slim figure.

Grounded in the Stars is not one of a kind. Modernity notes that similar eyesores have appeared in San Francisco, London, Rotterdam, and even Florence:

It’s part of the pursuit of uniformity, the dismantling of vibrant, diverse aesthetics, to be replaced with a sterile monoculture of sick modernity that prioritises ideology over beauty.

Statues represent ideals to inspire our aspirations. Healthy societies erect statues of their heroes. Many of these were torn down during the Black Lives Matter riots. They will be replaced by statues of random overweight black women.
