Mamdani Lets Homeless Encampment by Intrepid Museum Fester

Nothing could be more emblematic of liberal rule than homeless encampments, so this story from the New York Post comes as no surprise:

A sprawling homeless encampment near the Intrepid Museum in Manhattan has been vexing business owners and passersby for months — but the city is effectively running a valet trash service for its rough-sleeping residents rather than clearing the eyesore.

The steadily growing shantytowns — haphazardly strewn with all manner of bicycles, electronics and garbage — have taken over sizable portions of West 45th and 46th Streets along Twelfth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, between the museum parking lot and an Amazon warehouse.

According to legend, back in the 1800s a rookie cop said, “This place is hell itself.” A more experienced cop responded, “Hell’s a mild climate. This is Hell’s Kitchen.” Thanks to Mamdani, the neighborhood is changing for the worse.

Normal people are sick of the stench. In response to their repeated complaints, the city sends sanitation workers on a regular basis to cart away unwanted trash but leaves the encampment in place.

Drug-addled bums love the direction New York is taking:

“Mamdani is awesome. He, like, did a whole paradigm shift on homelessness and care,” said Markus C., who lives in an encampment on West 40th Street but visits the 46th Street shantytown roughly twice a week. …

James Bilis, 35, from Jersey City, has been living on the streets for five years. He also heaped praise on Mamdani for the uptick in outreach services and the lack of enforcement.

“The homeless outreach, it’s been a lot of that. They walk around, they bring food to people all the time now. They bring supplies, try to give us shelters, there’s a lot more than before,” he said.

It is no accident that homelessness explodes where moonbats have control. Los Angeles is another case in point, as Steve Hilton would like to change:

Imagine the entire country as a homeless encampment. That’s what progressives are progressing toward.

Democrat Policies Produce Typhus in California

California spends $billions per year on homelessness. For the money, taxpayers have received more homelessness — and consequently, more rats, more fleas, and more typhus.

Via Nevada News & Views:

Los Angeles County just reported a record 220 cases of flea-borne typhus in 2025, up from just 187 the year before.

About 90% of those people ended up in the hospital, according to the county’s latest public health data released in April.

Typhus is a disease associated with the Middle Ages. It is spread by fleas that live on rats. Rats are flourishing in California due to the homeless encampments that proliferate under Democrat rule. Restrictions on landfills that result in garbage piling up and on rat poison in the name of protecting wildlife have also contributed.

Illinois Bill to Turn All Parks Into Homeless Encampments

Moonbat plutocrat JB Pritzker wants to be president. That would allow him to do to the whole country what his fellow leftists have been inflicting on Illinois. For example, he might turn all parks and public areas into homeless encampments.

Wirepoints reports on a new bill sponsored exclusively by Democrats:

It’s House Bill 1429, the Local Regulation of Unsheltered Homelessness Act, which says local governments wouldn’t be able to establish or enforce a rule fining or criminally punishing homeless people for participating in “life sustaining activities.”

You know, like taking over public parks to indulge in the activities normally associated with the homeless community, like public defecation, drug use, prostitution, theft, random assault, et cetera.

Explicitly, “life sustaining activities” include sleeping, “protecting oneself from the elements,” and “storing personal property as needed to shelter oneself.”

Cancer that starts in Chicago metastasizes statewide:

Chicago already broadly allows encampments in its parks, many of which have been trashed. Visit some of the parks yourself where encampments are being set up or see pictures here from the Restore Gompers Park Coalition, a group opposing the Illinois bill.

As noted by the Restore Gompers Park Coalition,

“HB-1429 prohibits local park districts, county forest preserves, and municipalities from creating and enforcing their own policies and ordinances as they relate to individuals experiencing homelessness, meaning your local playground or your nature space can become a long-term encampment, and the elected officials in your community will not be able to do anything about it.”

Local radio host Jeanne Ives has more:

Elsewhere on the social engineering front,

Illinois is considering a bill to override local zoning laws to allow multifamily building construction in single-family residential neighborhoods. Gov. JB Pritzker is a strong supporter.

The likely purpose is to pave the way for public housing — a.k.a., government-run slums like Chicago’s Cabrini-Green — which Pritzker has been working to extend into formerly livable suburbs.

From ruined blue states like Illinois, Democrats hope to take their bizarrely sanctimonious malice nationwide, so as to fundamentally transform the USA as promised.

NYC to Blow Over $97,000 per Bum on Homelessness Grift

In liberal jurisdictions where homelessness is exploited as a pretext to confiscate wealth, it takes any number of taxpayers to support a single drug-addled derelict. California is one example; New York City is another.

The New York Post reports:

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli just revealed that New York City is now spending $81,000 per street homeless person — in a town where average take-home pay is no higher than $40,600.

$81,000 per year per bum? Not enough. The Islamocommie mayor wants to waste more:

City Hall projects it to hit nearly $97,000 in the coming year.

The trajectory has been straight up into the stratosphere:

Overall, this spending has skyrocketed from $102 million in 2018 to $368 million last year, up 320% even as the street-homeless population grew just 26%.

That’s not all:

These figures don’t include about $500 million a year for supportive housing, mental health co-response teams, the NYPD’s homeless-clearing work or other outlays for this population.

Either hobos are sleeping off their fentanyl binges in platinum-plated refrigerator boxes, or most of this money goes to graft.

Not all liberals embrace moonbattery because they are morons; some use it to make easy money that other people worked for.

Making Washington State Into a Housing Project

When moonbats bark that “Housing is a human right,” they mean it is to be provided at other people’s expense on a coercive basis. This in turn means reducing the entire country to a government housing project.

Washington State leads the way. Via KIRO:

House Bill 2266 requires cities across Washington to allow permanent supportive housing in any residential zone. Your neighborhood. The street where your kids ride bikes. Cities cannot zone it out. They cannot add a single operating condition stricter than what applies to a regular apartment. …

Permanent supportive housing is subsidized housing with no time limits, no treatment requirements, and no recovery expectations.

That is, the drug use that renders many people homeless is allowed.

The neighbors already know what comes next. Trespassing. Car prowls. Screaming in the streets. People trying front doors at night.

We have seen the future of America under liberal rule. It is called Cabrini-Green, a realm so nightmarish, they made a horror movie about it.

CEO in Homeless–Industrial Complex Charged With Misappropriating Over $1.2 Million in Public Funds

The homeless–industrial complex is a lucrative sector of the economy. However, liberal establishment grifters are advised that if they are dumb enough they can still get in trouble, even in deep blue California. National Review reports on Gwendolyn Westbrook, former CEO of the United Council of Human Services:

The former CEO of a San Francisco-based homelessness nonprofit was charged Monday with nine felony counts after allegedly misappropriating more than $1.2 million in public funds.

In addition to the $1.2 million,

Court documents show that other large amounts of money are also missing from UCHS accounts.

Westbrook represents the tip of an iceberg:

The state of California spent $24 billion from 2019 to 2024 to address homelessness but officials are unsure exactly how the money was spent, according to a state audit released last year, which found that no systems were in place to track expenditures.

Regarding the return taxpayers get for their money,

Over the five-year period covered by the audit, California’s homeless population grew by 20 percent, from 151,278 in 2019 to 181,399 in 2023.

From the viewpoint of Gavin Newsom et al., this represents success. Spending other people’s money on homelessness results in more homelessness, which facilitates ever greater access by Democrats to other people’s money.

DC Suburb Gets What It Votes For

Residents in Hyattsville, Maryland have been granted a preview of what progressives are progressing toward.

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

The sign outside the Marylander Condominiums, a 200-unit complex in Prince George’s County, Md., describes it as a “private community.”

But for members of a homeless encampment in the condo’s backyard, the complex also serves as a crackhouse, a bathroom, and the entrance to an open-air drug market, which has become a magnet for organized crime and caused millions in property damage.

Transients break into buildings and smoke crack in the stairwells. Tenants traversing the property must navigate needles, feces, and sleeping bodies as addicts nap half-naked in the hallways and sprawl themselves like welcome mats outside residents’ doors.

Half of the complex has gone without heat since Thanksgiving after vagrants allegedly vandalized the boiler room, causing pipes to burst in several buildings. Some units have lost electricity, too, due to the overuse of space heaters.

These are small prices to pay on behalf of the politically sacred “unhoused” (please note that the euphemism “homeless” is no longer acceptable, now that everyone understands it to mean “probably psychotic and drug-addicted bum”).

Some people benefit from the situation:

Outside the freezing halls, drug dealers drive high-end vehicles through a dilapidated parking lot…

The encampment also provides a haven for prostitutes.

We pay ever more exorbitant taxes so that government can maintain order. Last month public officials held a town hall to address the situation:

Billed as a “listening session” for condo-owners to air their grievances, the town hall featured a lengthy presentation on how the county was handling its “unhoused” residents.

“We have to be compassionate,” the county’s deputy chief administrative officer for public safety and homeland security, Melvin Powell, said of the encampment, addressing the hundreds of residents who could soon be displaced because of it.

“We’re not criminalizing the unhoused,” police major Thomas Boone added.

In other words: Get used to it, taxpayers!

The Swamp suburb Prince George’s County is 86% Democrat, the highest percentage in the country. You get what you vote for.

Instead of restoring order, the county…

…threatened to sue the condo, which was already tight on cash, for its failure to fix the nearly $5 million in property damage that has been caused by the drug den on its doorstep.

Legal action by the county is likely to result in some of the residents being rendered homeless. At least then they will qualify for the free food the county passes out to the bum encampment.

Black Acquitted of Stabbing White Because Victim Used N-Word Afterward

To see what progressives are progressing toward, look to the moonbat dystopia Portland, where already it is now effectively legal for a black to stab a white so long as the victim is said to be a racist:

Gary Edwards, 43, was charged with second-degree assault for stabbing a man in Portland near a light rail stop on July 8, KPTV reported. …

Security cameras, with no audio, captured Edwards, with a fixed-blade knife in hand, approaching [Gregory Howard Jr.] as he sat on a [bench].

The derelict Edwards already had a history with knives and assault:

He was convicted of attempted second-degree assault in 2021 and was sentenced to three years in prison for another stabbing in 2020, records show.

Edwards was accused of fourth-degree assault for fighting with a shop clerk, but the case was dismissed because he could not secure a public defender.

This time Edwards had a lawyer, who made the improbable claim that his client approached Howard in order to offer the knife he was brandishing in exchange for cigarettes. Yelped the shyster:

“What other than racism could explain why Mr. Howard perceived hatred, animosity and aggression from a complete stranger?”

Anyone guilty of racism deserves the worst. So long as they are white.

After he was stabbed, bodycam footage from security officers caught Howard calling Edwards a naughty name.

It is unclear if there is any evidence to suggest that Howard used the slur before he was stabbed.

It appears extremely unlikely that he did — as if that should matter. Yet Edwards’s defense was that he stabbed Howard for already having used the forbidden n-word.

The jury found him not guilty.

Despite the left-wing immigration and welfare policies that have transmogrified US demographics, the Caucasians who as recently as 1970 comprised almost 90% of the population are still a majority. But already open season has been proclaimed.
