California Public Employees’ Retirement System Flushes Fortune Down Green Energy

Green energy moonbattery is not the best investment:

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System for state employees lost 71% of its $468 million investment in a clean energy and technology private equity fund, state records show, but CalPERS won’t explain how.

Don’t worry, retirees; California taxpayers will pick up the tab.

CalPERS says its pension benefits are only 79% funded, leaving the state, and its taxpayers, on the hook for the other 21%. According to a recent report from Reason Foundation, CalPERS’ pension shortfall is approximately $180 billion.

The 71% loss comes to over $330 million…

…for which private equity firms were paid at least $22 million in fees and costs.

CalPERS has not been forthcoming regarding specifics of how it flushed away the money.

Had the money put into the [CalPERS Clean Energy & Technology Fund] been passively invested in an S&P 500 index fund, with dividends reinvested, the fund would have been worth approximately $3 billion.

But that would not have saved a planet imperiled by the alleged menace of anthropogenic global warming.

The Obama legacy endures in California, which continues his policy of wasting vast amounts of taxpayer money on green energy boondoggles, possibly to launder it on behalf of those with a seat at the table.

University Places Trigger Warning on the Bible

Don’t worry, liberals won’t ban the Bible outright. First, they will designate it as objectional material with trigger warnings— as at the University of Sheffield :

Students are warned that the Bible contains scenes of murder and violence, with the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, singled out, according to the [Mail on Sunday], for “graphic bodily injury and sexual violence”.

Note they target the New Testament. Evidently moonbats regard the Crucifixion as sexually titillating, which would be consistent with their embrace of depravity.

Next comes an NC-17 rating on the Bible. Only after that flies will they actually ban it.

Top Aide to Democrat Governor Arrested for Drug Trafficking

One problem with single-party Democrat rule as they have in Massachusetts is that the lack of competition breeds arrogance and allows lowlifes to achieve positions of power. Consider the administration of Governor Maura Healey:

LaMar Cook, who has served as deputy director of Healey’s western Massachusetts office since 2023, was charged with trafficking over 200 grams of cocaine, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition related to the bust, Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni announced Wednesday.

He wasn’t just over 200 grams. He was way over:

Multiple parcels containing about 21 kilograms of cocaine have been seized by Massachusetts State Police throughout the investigation into Cook.

You thought the little bag of cocaine Joe Biden’s bagman Hunter evidently left in White House was bad?

Cook was arrested during a Tuesday traffic stop, three days after authorities conducted a “controlled delivery operation” of eight kilos of coke to the Springfield State Office Building, where the Healey staffer worked.

In Cook’s defense, he is compliant with the DEI principles upon which staffing decisions are made under Democrat rule.

UK Judge Pretends Aging Syrian Migrant Is Child

If men can identify as women, why can’t aging migrants identify as children, if it helps them displace the European population? Leftist judges are happy to affirm them:

A migrant from Syria who has a ‘receding hairline’ and ‘grey hair’ has won an age case after an immigration judge ruled he was 16.

His other features include crow’s feet at the corners of his eyes, wrinkles on his forehead, nasolabial lines, and rings around his neck.

Derby City Council, which carried out the age assessment after his arrival, rejected his claims and said he was ‘significantly over 18 years of age’.

But the council was overruled.

[The clearly adult unnamed Syrian] took the case to an appeal in the Upper Tribunal of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber and has now won his case. …

Judge Gaenor Bruce said she accepted testimony of an Iranian asylum seeker who was in the same Derby hotel as [the aging Syrian] who was concerned about his young age and noted that the Syrian couldn’t cook or do the laundry.

Being too useless to do laundry confirms his likely contribution to the British economy, not that he is a child.

Adding insult to injury,

Derby City Council will have to pay the migrant’s legal costs.

That is unlikely to be the last time he will cost taxpayers money.
