Mamdani’s $30 Million Socialist Grocery Store

Under Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong, government had control of the food supply. Either through social engineering (Mao) or as a deliberate political tactic (Stalin), this resulted in the most prominent feature of communism: mass starvation. Sharing their ideology, Democrats like New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani would lead us in this direction.

The New York Post reports:

Mamdani’s first-unveiled city-owned grocery store will cost a staggering $30 million to build from the ground up at East Harlem’s longstanding La Marqueta, officials confirmed – as local grocers worried it’d gobble up their business.

How can free market grocers compete with stores that can sell at loss, will probably permit shoplifting, and do not have to pay rent or taxes?

Putting them out of business is not a bug but a feature. It advances the progressive goal of imposing communism by increments so that people do not push back until it is too late.

Mamdani has proposed spending $70 million in taxpayer money for constructing his envisioned five city-owned grocery stores.

As with all Democrat spending, the actual cost will be much higher. Consider Gavin Newsom’s Bridge to Nowhere and still more wasteful Bullet Train to Nowhere.

Mamdani admits that NYC is already “worse than broke.” As he runs out of other people’s money, his Marxist grocery stores will go under, as in Kansas City.

Alternatively, Democrats could take control of the federal government and perpetually bail out NYC. Socialist spending might continue unabated until the whole country goes bankrupt.

New York State Threatens to Imprison Nuns Running Hospice

The Rosary Hill Home has provided free care to dying poor people for more than a century. Where moonbattery prevails, no good deed goes unpunished indefinitely. In the name of the LGBT agenda, Big Government threatens to come down hard on the nuns who run the hospice.

Fox News reports from New York:

Signed into law on Nov. 30, 2023, the “Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, and people living with HIV long-term care facility residents’ bill of rights” bans long-term care facilities and staff “from discriminating against any resident on the basis of a resident’s actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or HIV status,” according to a press release from [Democrat Governor Kathy] Hochul’s office.

That means LGBT depravity imposed on nuns by a sinister government.

The Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne, who run Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, New York, filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the law they say would require them to assign rooms by gender identity, not biological sex; allow access to opposite-sex bathrooms; allow expression, relationships and identity practices; use preferred pronouns; require staff training in gender ideology; and post a public notice stating compliance with the law.

Per Mother Marie Edward,

“New York’s gender ideology mandates not only violate our Catholic values, they threaten our existence with fines, injunctions, license revocation, and even jail time.”

Desecrating Christian values is a central purpose of LGBTism, helping to explain why it is embraced with such enthusiasm even by liberals who are not sexually perverted themselves.

Patients have not been complaining about the lack of LBGT compliance. But this is not about the patients.

If the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne do not comply, they face fines up to $2,000 per violation — rising to $5,000 — court-ordered forced compliance, loss of licensing and up to one year in prison and fines up to $10,000.

Christianity survived Joseph Stalin. It will survive Kathy Hochul.

Eating Disorders, Depression Could Qualify Patients to Be Put Down by MAID

At a Special Joint Committee on Medical Assistance in Dying [MAID] in late March, Dr. Mona Gupta, a psychiatrist and professor at the University of Montreal, was asked by Conservative MP Andrew Lawton whether an eating disorder or depression would qualify.

“It depends on the circumstances of the person,” Gupta stated at first.

“So it could?” asked Lawton

“Potentially,” responded Gupta.

MAID has been offered as a solution to poverty, mental illness, needing a wheelchair lift, and backpain. Why not eating disorders and depression?

Massachusetts Bill Would Limit How Many Miles You Can Drive

Mobility is freedom. Consequently, it will be curtailed where Democrats have consolidated power — as in Massachusetts.

Independent Sentinel reports on Senate Bill S.2246, which adds rules to the state’s climate plan:

As part of the plan, the department of transportation will track residents’ mileage and impose fines for excessive driving.

In liberal utopia, bureaucrats will track every aspect of existence so as to control it.

It orders the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) to set binding goals for reducing statewide vehicle miles traveled (VMT). The bill will create a new government council tasked with pushing people onto public transit, one way or another.

Having your own car allows independence. The climate doesn’t like independence. The climate wants you only to be able to go where leftist bureaucrats have decided you should go.

No mileage limit is listed yet, but it’s coming.

In the near future, cars will automatically shut down when we have exceeded the mileage Democrats have allotted us. We will see if that makes the weather any nicer.

Antifa/anti-ICE goons may not have to worry about attention from people like Harmeet Dhillon for long. They are tools of the Democratic Party, closely analogous to the Sturmabteilung that helped Nazis to power. If Democrats prevail, we will be effectively ruled by these lowlifes. The only person facing prosecution here would be Savanah Hernandez.
