It would be easy to laugh at the arrogant Dr Evil lookalike Klaus Schwab, except that his sinister WEF increasingly appears to be in the driver’s seat. Consider ostensible world leaders like Joe Biden, Justin Trudeau, and Mark Rutte. Which do they seem more responsive to, the needs of their people or the demands of Klaus Schwab?

Even the WEF acknowledges that left-wing “clean energy” fantasies will require more of certain metals than the planet has to offer. This is especially problematic because the WEF disapproves of mining. The solution: you can’t have your own car anymore.

Metals like cobalt, lithium and nickel are used not only in climate cult foolishness like electric cars and wind turbines, but also in phones and computers. So we will have to go without those too.

The [WEF] argues that private ownership of vehicles and electronic devices is wasteful and inefficient.

You will own nothing and you will be happy. Oligarchical collectivists actually mean this. How they plan to force us to be happy is unclear. Maybe Pfizer is working on pharmaceutical lobotomies that can be mandated or put in the drinking water.

The main reason we have entered a potentially devastating inflationary cycle is that the federal government exploited Covid as a pretext to go on a spending spree with nonexistent money, thereby diluting the value of the money we earn.

Some of this really was spent on Covid, if not necessarily wisely. Much of it was wasted on pernicious moonbattery — and continues to be. For example, Providence, Rhode Island is using it to build slums, address “social disparities,” and pay people to be black:

Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza signed a spending plan for $124 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding Friday, paving the way for the city to invest tens of millions of dollars into housing and infrastructure projects. …

“We’re going to be able to invest in hopefully the creation of hundreds of affordable units, which also allows for the creation of other market units over the coming years,” Elorza said. “So this is going to be a gift that keeps on giving.”

It wasn’t a gift. The money was stolen. Through inflation, it was taken by force out of the pockets of everyone who holds American currency.

In addition to housing, the city is allocating roughly $20 million towards investments in water, sewer, broadband and infrastructure; $24 million toward addressing community and social disparities; $6.2 million in the recovery of sectors like tourism and hospitality; and $2.8 million in economic stabilization.

Unlike the rest of it, water and sewer are at least the purview of government, although there is no reason the whole country should have to pay for sewer pipes in Providence. Most of the rest is straight up Marxist looting.

Bureauweenies buy votes with some of our money. Some of it, they put directly in their own pockets:

The city is also putting more than $36 million in ARPA money towards lost public sector revenue.

Still more outrageously, some of our money goes to stoking resentment by paying people to be black:

The spending plan also earmarks $10 million for reparations through something called the “COVID-19 Equities Program.”

Barks Elorza:

“We know that $10 million is not enough. We can’t right all the wrongs of the past, but we can take an important first step.”

American history and heritage are shameful, according to the dogma of our liberal rulers. Therefore, Elorza has a right to shower our money upon a politically favored racial group that votes overwhelmingly for Democrats like Elorza.

Our forefathers had a practice of coating people who betray public trust in tar and feathers, carrying them on a rail to the nearest body of water, and dumping them therein. This salutary tradition should be revived at once, starting in Providence or better still in Washington.

If you think prices are high now, give Democrats a chance to fix the problem they caused with their excessive spending, repressive regulations, and war on energy. Rather than take responsibility for the crisis, they accuse the people who overcome government hurdles to provide us with energy of “price gouging.” Their solution is Marxism:

Elizabeth Warren and seven Democratic colleagues in the Senate and six in the House want to punish companies that raise prices more than they like.

As everyone who was alive during the 1970s or who knows what has been going on in Venezuela is aware, price controls produce shortages.

The legislation unveiled last week would grant sweeping new powers to the Federal Trade Commission. It bans companies with $100 million or more in revenue from selling goods or services “at an unconscionably excessive price” during a market shock. The public employees in their Beltway offices would define what is “unconscionably excessive,” and they could then slap offenders with a penalty of up to 5% of annual revenue.

That would be crippling. It is intended to be. When disfavored industries like “Big Oil” can no longer function due to government shackles, they will be nationalized, as in Venezuela.

Gasoline is not the only essential product Democrats will make unavailable:

Warren denounced “corporations taking advantage of the current crisis to prey on consumers,” and listed grocery stores, car-rental firms and drug companies as nefarious price gougers.

The profit margin at grocery stores is particularly thin. Putting companies like Kroger — which Warren has denounced by name — out of business will require nationalization of food distribution. Democrats have learned well from Joseph Stalin regarding the effectiveness of the food supply as a political weapon.

Liberals posture ostentatiously regarding their support for Ukraine. Ask a Ukrainian about the Holodomor and you will understand Warren’s game plan.

Venezuela was the wealthiest country in Latin America, sitting on the world’s largest oil reserves. Then people cut of the same cloth as Warren, Biden, and Bernie Sanders took over. The result was empty shelves at the grocery store and no gas at the pumps. It won’t turn out differently here.

The danger is that the idea of price controls spreads beyond the Senate’s Venezuelan caucus and into the Treasury and White House. It’s the definition of economic insanity, which means in this Administration it is all too possible.

Not only possibly, but likely. With Biden’s leftist handlers in charge, the dysfunctional socialist dictatorship in Venezuela is not a problem to solve. It is our likeminded ally:

This would require lifting U.S. sanctions that are designed to squeeze the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro and help return the country to democracy. …

In March, Team Biden sent three representatives to Caracas to talk to Mr. Maduro. Venezuela later released two of more than a half-dozen American hostages it has been holding. … Rumors persist that back-channel talks continue. …

Venezuelan supply wouldn’t make much of a dent in global oil prices. But it is revealing that American progressives apparently put appeasing the Latin left above their climate-change principles.

In contrast to global warming hogwash, Marxism is something Democrats really do believe in, because it would grant them the absolute power enjoyed by fiends like Stalin, Mao, and Maduro.

The Biden Administration’s sanctions dance with the dictator is taking place even as it acts at every turn to restrict U.S. oil and production.

That is because Venezuela is an ally to the Biden Administration, whereas America is its enemy.

The Chinese Communist Party, explained Ng, can “control the media to not get out of control” and stop them from “spreading rumors that would hurt the economy”…

Ng’s comments follow his unearthed ties to a bevy of Chinese Communist Party-linked foreign influence groups including the Committee of 100 and the China United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), which function as part of China’s United Front Work Department (UFWD).

The museum then suddenly told us that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would not be allowed to speak because he “didn’t align with the museum’s values” and would undermine its mission of teaching tolerance.

If only those who teach “tolerance” were as tolerant as they are hypocritical.

I’ve been a supporter of New York’s Museum of Jewish Heritage for years. … The charge of maintaining the memory of the six-million murdered Jews is a sacred trust. … But I am appalled to read that the museum had gotten involved in petty politics, canceling people and straying from its important mission.

Please, spare us the histrionics. Many of Florida’s Jews, especially those of us who are progressive, will understand and support the Museum of Jewish Heritage’s decision to block the visit of Mr. DeSantis. His recent legislation threatens gender nonconforming youth and seeks to ban the books that depict them.

Regarding the sort of books that liberals screech histrionically are being banned from school libraries for depicting sexually depraved children, here’s what happens when you try to read from one at a schoolboard meeting:

The Holocaust was certainly horrific, but cannot compare to the genocide committed by communists, which dwarfs it in terms of the number of victims. This is welcome:

DeSantis announced Monday that he is signing legislation designating Nov. 7 as Victims of Communism Day in his state. …

“Honoring the people that have fallen victim to communist regimes and teaching our students about those atrocities is the best way to ensure that history does not repeat itself,” DeSantis said in a statement.

No one is likely to complain that DeSantis does not align with the values of those who oppose communism.

Businesses that remained open were not seeing many clients as people did not want to do anything that might bring them near infected people and force them into quarantine.

As ALA president, I will direct resources and opportunities to a diverse cross section of the association and advance a public agenda that puts organizing for justice at the center of library work.
