Buffalo can look forward to the chaos unleashed by a radical mayor. At the opposite end of the Empire State, NYC will soon face Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who like India B. Walton has won the Democrat primary in a single-party jurisdiction. This represents a setback for civilization:

That he wants the Manhattan DA’s Office to emulate the prosecutors’ offices in Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore and San Francisco should alarm the NYPD and law-abiding citizens.

For example, the San Francisco’s DA is Chesa Boudin, offspring of cop-killing terrorists Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert. He was raised by two other Weather Underground terrorists, Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. Boudin ran on a platform of openly siding with criminals against law enforcement. As you would expect, San Francisco is degenerating into dysfunctional anarchy.

Under antipolice, pro-Black Lives Matter Bill de Blasio, New York City has set off on the same path. Bragg looks likely to accelerate the decay.

Bragg will immediately begin de-prosecuting certain offenses, refusing to punish violations of duly enacted criminal laws. These include resisting arrest, trespassing, fare evasion, marijuana possession, driving with a suspended license and any traffic violation.

Rudy Giuliani and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton applied broken windows theory to clean up the mess left by earlier administrations and make the Big Apple safe and livable again. The strategy calls for preventing big crimes by cracking down on small ones.

Lately, Democrats have been applying broken windows in reverse, deliberately creating explosive crime rates for motives that are not yet clear but that could not possibly be benign.

Liberal bail reform has flooded New York streets with criminals, placing law-abiding citizens at great risk. Expect more of this malevolent lunacy under Bragg:

“Non-incarceration is the outcome for every case, except those with charges of homicide or the death of a victim, a class-B violent felony in which a deadly weapon causes serious physical injury or felony sex offenses,” his campaign materials read. … Bragg proposes virtually the same non-incarceration path for both bail and criminal convictions. Thus, these offenders will walk out of jail the same day they are arrested and apparently will never return.

This will be imposed on the public under cover of the usual leftist claptrap:

Bragg tops off these detailed proposals with the usual progressive mantra of ending mass incarceration, racial disparities and police misconduct.

He is serious about putting even more criminals on the streets, promising to hire a senior staff member to “oversee implementation of new policies relating to declination and diversion, alternatives to incarceration, reentry and restorative justice.”

The $5 words, manufactured at great public expense by pernicious chin-pullers in academia, are euphemisms for letting criminals run loose.

Congratulations, liberals. Your war on police has been a stunning success — especially in progressive places like Ashville, North Carolina:

The police department in one of America’s fastest-growing cities is facing staff shortages so severe that it will not respond to certain 911 calls, including complaints of burglaries, theft, property damage, identity theft, or trespassing.

Ashville has lost 84 officers since the beginning of last year.

APD Police Chief David Zack says the attrition rate, which has accelerated since protests against law enforcement became widespread in the wake of George Floyd’s death in May of last year, has reached crisis proportions.

The liberal establishment presented us with a choice between lowlife criminals like George Floyd and law enforcement, and bullied the weak-minded into siding with the former. The consequences have begun to unfold.

[Zack] said it is necessary to no longer respond in-person to low-level offenses so that response times to more serious crimes could be cut down.

As the success of the broken windows policy proved in New York before de Blasio let the city slide back into chaos, low-level offenses escalate into violent crimes when ignored. But local liberal activists, characteristically siding with criminals, want the police to remain understaffed.

Speaking of police understaffing, avoid the Minnesota State Fair this year:

After the former state fair police chief retired, the Minnesota State Fair has gone back to the drawing board for assembling a police presence for the upcoming fair.

In the past, organizers put together a State Fair Police Department, consisting mainly of retired cops and active duty officers working in their spare time. But this year, they can’t find the manpower.

Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher says he is having conversations with the fair but commented that getting enough officers will be “daunting” because of the recent drops in the number of officers employed.

The fair has allegedly asked the St. Paul Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, and the University of Minnesota Police Department and all three rejected the request because of a shortage of officers.

With the cats having been driven away, the rats will play. Expect wilding “youths” inflicting random violence to be the main feature of the Minnesota State Fair.

To get an idea of where this is heading, look to moonbat-ruled Chicago:

If the police inside the SUV had lifted a finger to defend civilization or their own dignity, they would have been set upon by the mob. If they had then defended themselves, they would be Derek Chauvined and potentially spend the rest of their lives behind bars.

Notice how slowly they drove. They wouldn’t want one of their assailants to fall off the vehicle and twist an ankle. That might be enough to get them fired if not imprisoned.

Leftists responded to this triumph of savagery by spouting the same bogus moonbattery that set all this in motion:

• “Until white people start treating them like human beings instead of animals..until you start respecting them and seeing their dignity and worth…you will continue to get the results you’re getting,” one commenter said.

• Another user replied similarly: “1. Was the vehicle stolen? 2. Did anyone get arrested or hurt? 3. NOTHING to see here[;] the weather was nice and everyone had a great time.”

• “Yeah, how f***ing embarrassing that after literal centuries of police brutality & oppression, black people were allowed to dance in front of [police] and even delay their patrol by a few seconds,” another commenter observed sarcastically. “It was much less embarrassing when police just shot them in the face every day.”

They speak for the liberal establishment that controls most everything.

When they are through destroying America, progressives will replace it with something very different. Local police will have no part in Democrat utopia, because local authority is a brake on their power.

You think Baltimore is a hellhole now? Hold on, liberal rule isn’t done with it yet:

Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced on Friday that the city of Baltimore would permanently suspend prosecution of prostitution, drug possession, minor traffic offenses, and other so-called “quality of life” crimes.

If you want more crime and urban decay, take the “broken windows” policy that Rudy Giuliani used to clean up New York City, before Bill de Blasio deliberately plunged it back into chaos. Reverse the policy. Then throw it into overdrive. If cracking down on minor infractions like loud music works wonders to prevent violent crime, think what effectively legalizing drugs and prostitution can do to turn a city into something out of a Mad Max movie.

Mosby had previously announced the policy as a temporary measure that was allegedly designed to slow the spread of COVID-19 among the city’s police force and prison population. However, in Friday’s press conference, Mosby claimed that the policy had served to lower violent crime in Baltimore, and that it proved that her vision of “criminal justice reform” worked. Thus, the policy would become permanent.

This won’t be the only insane measure supposedly taken as a temporary emergency response to Covid that turns out to be permanent. Democrats cranking up the financial incentives to have children out of wedlock springs to mind.

Mosby crows that her policy reduces crime. What it reduces is arrests.

Speaking of arrests, Mosby might be due for one herself:

Mosby’s husband, Nick Mosby, is president of the Baltimore City Council, and the pair are widely believed to have higher political ambitions. Complicating these ambitions is a federal criminal investigation that has been opened by the United States Attorney’s Office into the couple’s finances, which is reportedly investigating alleged tax and campaign finance improprieties.

No wonder Mosby dislikes the police so much. She must have nightmares about them dragging her off to jail.

She needn’t worry. At the rate liberals are destroying the country, she will probably be Attorney General before long.

One price of submitting to liberal rule is that it is no longer safe to go out in public, even in broad daylight. When Giuliani was mayor, New York City was famous for its safety. After years of Bill de Blasio, we read stories like this:

The New York City Police Department is seeking dozens of suspects in connection with a brutal attack on a 26-year-old male who was beaten, slashed, and disrobed.

They even stole his underwear, and as usual also his phone.

The victim is from Brooklyn, but was just exiting a bus from Atlanta.

The attack, which was caught on surveillance camera, shows hordes of people rushing to punch, push, shove, and hit the victim, who eventually ends up on the ground. While on the ground, other people in the group can be seen jumping on and stomping the victim.

Once the blood starts flowing, everybody joins in.

What do you expect in a country that glorifies criminality, and a city that has marginalized the police in the name of leftist ideology? Scenes like this are what liberals embrace when they embrace Black Lives Matter.

The victim is reported to be a gang member with 43 arrests, 17 for felonies. That he was walking around loose is a symptom of the same disease that allowed the attack to occur at 11:30 in the morning.

Presumably, there was history between at least some of the attackers and the victim. But these days, who knows? If you are walking down the street and someone doesn’t like your face, the same could happen to you.

Attackers are unlikely to be punished in a place like New York, even if they are caught — which they probably won’t be. Everyone knows that the moonbats in charge at both the city and state level are on the side of criminals, not the police. As of January 20, this is now true also at the federal level.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza said Wednesday the city will start phasing out the entry exam.

Critics have said the composition of the programs do not reflect the city’s diversity.

The testing reflects aptitude, as it is intended to do. The very concept of aptitude is wrongthink. According to liberal dogma, if whites and Asians score higher on tests than blacks and Hispanics, the only permissible explanation is racism. If it proves impossible to contrive tests where whites and Asians do not score higher, this indicates that the very concept of testing is racist.

Actually racist NYC Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza proclaims that educrats will “reimagine” how to determine which students would benefit from accelerated instruction — you know, the way riot–endorsing leftist radicals want to “reimagine” law enforcement in the name of Black Lives Matter.

So if you’re going to do away with the admissions testing system, how do you replace that with something that produces your desired demographic result? If it just works out to be some sort of lottery, then why have an advanced studies program at all? You’re not going to randomly pick up the most advanced students. Further, how is that fair to the children? If a kid who isn’t able to score well on the placement tests suddenly gets shoved into a significantly more advanced program, they’re almost certainly going to flounder. Then you have to either boot them back to the regular school curriculum or dumb down the advanced class to the point where they can pass. If you follow the latter route, you’ve eliminated the benefit of having a gifted and talented program in the first place.

Accelerated learning will never “reflect the city’s diversity.” That’s why such programs will be reduced to farce and then canceled.

Social-media journalist Tara Szczepanski reported being assaulted by some from the rally. She reported having an egg smashed on the back of her head.

In the video she tweeted, she is assaulted by at least two of the men. One sprayed her with a chemical string and another appeared to strike her with a skateboard.

The mob identified her as “a f**king Nazi” and accused her of supporting the President of the USA. Anyone who fails to embrace Antifa/BLM ideology is a Nazi and will be treated accordingly.

Szczepanski rushed to nearby NYPD police officers and appears to be assaulted again — in view of the cops. She said they “they told me to stay 6 feet from them and let me be attacked.”

What else would you expect in Bill de Blasio’s New York?

Moonbats choose their candidates on the ostensible basis of not being straight white guys; this absolves candidates of lacking more meaningful qualifications. If voter fraud fails to preserve Biden’s slim lead, the violence will be explosive — though only in the short term. According to his mother, Cindy White,

“He was just standing and the sidewalk just — It was like a suction. Like a sinkhole. He just went down.”

He fell almost a dozen feet, concrete debris raining down on his head. He broke and arm and a leg. Then came the horror.

“He was like, ‘Ma, the rats down there were ridiculous.’ He was like, ‘they were like so big.’ He was scared to yell out because he thought they were gonna go in his mouth,” she said.

It is not safe to leave your home in New York — not with Bill de Blasio in charge and a revolution underway. A 40-year-old man was walking his dog near Central Park on Saturday when protesters surrounded him:

Police said the man “engaged the group of protesters in conversation” as they surrounded him.

This did not seem to help.

[O]ne of the protesters punched the man in the head and pushed him to the ground, police said.

While the man was on the ground, two other protesters then punched and stomped on him, police said.

They tried to steal his cellphone, but lacked the follow-through to succeed. Both the victim and his dog suffered minor injuries.

They were lucky. Worse has happened to random people who fall into the hands of mostly peaceful protesters. Worst still will happen if their revolution succeeds.

George Floyd’s likely fentanyl overdose served as a pretext for lawlessness that has become the new normal in localities run by leftists. In New York City, tony stores are targeted on a regular basis by those greedy for what Black Lives Matter activists call “reparations.”

Bands of shoplifters are terrorizing Soho’s high-end boutiques, lifting hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of designer merchandise, and in some cases, threatening security guards to keep quiet — or be labeled racist, The Post has learned.

The disturbing pattern began in late May during the riots that rocked the city in the wake of the George Floyd police custody death. High-end Celine was looted of $1.5 million in merchandise then, and the blatant thievery continues “every week” in ritzy stores such as Prada, Moncler, Dior and Balenciaga, one plugged-in local said.

The police have been largely defunded and sidelined by Bill de Blasio. Not that everyone has the guts to call the police anyway. That could get you branded as a “racist.”

“If they [store personnel] stop them and say anything in the store before they’ve left the building then it often gets turned into a racial accusation,” the source said.

“Racists” are targeted by social media campaigns. Their businesses might be firebombed in the name of racial justice. Yelp is happy to help out with this.

NYPD Sgt. Joseph Imperatrice, founder of Blue Lives Matter NYC, told The Post that investigators are aware that “mobs of young, transient groups” have “bulldozed through aisles grabbing as much as their arms can hold.”

The era of Black Lives Matter is a golden age for criminals.

In the latest incident, thieves twice plundered Moncler on Prince Street — which sells down jackets for nearly $2,000…

In the first incident, two individuals grabbed nearly two dozen down jackets… A few hours later, at 6 p.m., thieves snatched “more than $50,000” in merchandise and sped off in a white Jaguar and a black Audi…

According to the MSM’s narrative, these people are impoverished as a result of systemic racism.

In the near future, all stores will resemble ghetto liquor stores, with the goods secured behind bulletproof glass. A society that reveres criminals like George Floyd, Jacob Blake, et al can expect no better.

From New York City, where the crime-facilitating, police-defunding hard left mayor personally took part in painting a giant “BLACK LIVES MATTER” mural on Fifth Avenue:

New Yorkers painted a massive stretch of Brooklyn blacktop with the yellow message “F–k Cuomo and de Blasio” over the weekend in the vein of Hizzoner’s “Black Lives Matter” art…

Bucking widely held notions about municipal inefficiency, workers from the city Department of Transportation descended on the display less than 24 hours later — around 10 p.m. Saturday — to cover up the message with black…

The incident is under investigation. Police will not be highly motivated to find the culprits. Reportedly, they stood around laughing while the mural was created.

Meanwhile, up the coast in Massachusetts:

As in NYC, all-cap yellow letters were used to mimic the Black Lives Matter murals that municipal moonbats like de Blasio and DC’s Muriel Bowser have painted on streets to highlight their support for rioters versus the police and property owners.

It’s nice to see that there is resistance to “the Resistance.”

It is often the innocent who bear the consequences of moonbattery. As mentioned earlier, de facto presidential candidate Kamala Harris has promoted the Minnesota Freedom Fund, to which at least 13 Biden staffers have donated money. Its purpose is to bail out rioters and other violent criminals so that they can resume their sociopathic activities. Harris is effectively promoting assault on children and the elderly:

A bail fund promoted by Sen. Kamala Harris helped a man accused of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl get out of jail in July, according to court documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The Minnesota Freedom Fund (MFF) also helped post bail in August for a man accused of assaulting a 71-year-old woman as he burglarized her home, court documents show.

Both incidents were horrific. The Daily Caller has details.

Setting people like this loose will result in more of the same behavior, as anyone brighter than Bill de Blasio is likely to agree. For example, Lionel Melaki Timms was bailed out by the MFF after an arrest for violent assault and soon afterward was arrested for fracturing someone’s skull.

The MFF has struggled to spend the $35 million it received following Floyd’s death. The group revealed in early September that only about 6% of the $3,475,000 it has spent since Floyd’s death had gone to help bail out of jail people facing protest-related charges.

Too bad the people behind MFF don’t just pocket the money and disappear. It would all be the same to those who responded to Harris’s pitch. Lefty do-gooders who acquire a perverse thrill of self-rightness from donating to the cause of crime must not care about the actual consequences. Unfortunately, far too much of the money has gone to its implied purpose: unleashing havoc on the streets of Minneapolis.
