The New York City police department plans to pilot the unmanned aircrafts in response to complaints about large gatherings, including private events, over Labor Day weekend, officials announced Thursday.

Large gatherings are frowned upon by authorities, unless they are Black Lives Matter riots, in which case they are lavishly rewarded.

Mayor Eric Adams, a former police captain, has said he wants to see police further embrace the “endless” potential of drones…

Their potential for gathering information is obvious, and knowledge is power. Also, the increasing presence of drones can help habituate us to totalitarian rule as it consolidates. As J.D. Rucker notes,

They want us to expect Big Brother to be there, just barely out of reach, so even the most freedom-loving among us start to accept that we’re always being watched. Just as many patriotic Americans masked up on their way to get jabbed even though they didn’t really want to do either, so too will many Americans reluctantly accept this type of surveillance if they’re exposed to it enough.

Mind this is taking place in the anarchotyrannical dystopia of New York City, where actual crime has largely been effectively legalized. Once again, public safety is not the motive.

Makyyla Holland, a 25-year-old black transgender woman, accused correctional officers at the Broome County Jail of abuse and discrimination after being arrested on criminal contempt and assault charges.

Good thing for Mr. Holland there is no law against impersonating a woman, or he would be serving time for it on an aggravated basis.

Obsequious false pronouns as in original:

[S]he says she was stripped searched by male officers, made to peel off her acrylic nails without the proper tools and ordered to remove her wig, which was glued to her head.

Despite disclosing her transgender status multiple times, she says she was placed within men’s housing units and misgendered – referred to as a man.

She alleged she was denied hormone replacement therapy medications for four weeks and wasn’t given her prescribed testosterone blockers or antidepressants.

Normally oppression this egregious would warrant a larger jackpot, but New York has already given all its money to illegal aliens. So Mr. Holland only collects a $160,000 settlement, despite claims to have been roughed up.

It isn’t only about the money:

Transgender people in Broome County Jail will now be able to receive transgender health care, be housed consistent with their gender identity and be free from harassment and discrimination. Clothing and toiletry items will be consistent with a person’s gender identity and access will be granted to gender-affirming items such as wigs.

Regarding the supposed right of the sexual deranged to “be housed consistent with their gender identity”:

A little more than half of the men housed in Wisconsin Department of Corrections facilities who identify as transgender women have been convicted of at least one count of sexual assault or sexual abuse.

Bestowing privilege upon criminals who choose to embrace transgenderism will continue to result in rape and sometimes impregnation behind bars. No matter; women rank below the Alphabet People on the totem pole of oppression.

And a city that prides itself on being the ultimate temple of capitalism now finds itself with 22 per cent of its office space lying empty, a stunning figure that is likely to get worse following the introduction of a congestion charge of up to $23 (£17.60) for driving into midtown Manhattan.

Those still willing to come into the city are expected to take the subway — which entails risking their lives:

Two weeks ago, even Alvin Bragg, Manhattan’s Left-leaning District Attorney and the chief architect of a controversial criminal justice policy aimed at keeping down jail numbers that has seen crime rates soar, admitted: ‘When one of my family members gets on the train, I, too, get a knot in my stomach.’

George Soros installed Bragg to drive crime higher. While doubling the number of felons freed without bail, Bragg prosecutes the heroic Daniel Penny for defending subway passengers from a violent criminal.

Last year City Hall said it would remove any homeless people who behaved in an ‘unsafe’ manner from the subway, but reportedly dropped the plan because the shelters where it planned to house them are full of the migrants and asylum-seekers pouring into the city, most from Latin America and Africa, and often bussed in from southern states after crossing the Mexican border.

Not long ago, Eric Adams proclaimed New York would continue to be a sanctuary city. Looks like he has changed his mind amidst the predictable tidal wave of illegal aliens.

Essentially, the rate hikes mean a current monthly electricity and gas bill of $70 will now double to just over $140 come 2025.

New York City has agreed to pay more than $13 million to settle a civil rights lawsuit brought on behalf of roughly 1,300 people who were arrested or beaten by police during racial injustice demonstrations that swept through the city during the summer of 2020.

By “demonstrations,” the AP means riots; otherwise, the arrests would not have been necessary. Rioters being “beaten” means they resisted arrest so some degree of force was required to temporarily stop them from stealing and vandalizing in honor of the career criminal George Floyd.

With certain exceptions, people arrested or subjected to force by NYPD officers at those events will each be eligible for $9,950 in compensation, according to attorneys for the plaintiffs.

Not bad pay for breaking a few windows, stealing a TV set, and maybe setting fire to someone’s livelihood.

Needless to say, the next time the liberal establishment finds it expedient to seize on a preposterous pretext like Floyd’s fentanyl overdose to whip up the Democrat base into mass rioting, there will be even less effort to contain the mayhem.

The agreement, one of several stemming from the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, allows the city to avoid a trial that could be both expensive and politically fraught.

That is, the media would have exploited the trial to glorify criminals and demonize those who do not want to pay them even more.

[A]ttorneys for the city maintained that police were responding to a chaotic and unprecedented situation, pointing to some unruly protests in which police vehicles were set on fire and officers pelted with rocks…

Failing the New York State teachers’ exam really paid off — especially for a Queens man who learned this month he’s getting a $2 million windfall over it.

Roughly 5,200 black and Hispanic ex-Big Apple teachers and once-aspiring educators are expected to collect more than $1.8 billion in judgments after the city stopped fighting a nearly three-decade federal discrimination lawsuit that found a certification exam was biased.

“Biased” means the test had disparate impact. That means members of certain groups were less likely to pass it.

This is why we have no standards anymore. Apply standards and you will attract the attention of the racial grievance industry, which will loot you into oblivion.

Yusef Salaam has won a Democrat primary in single-party New York for a seat on the City Council, meaning he has won.

This is rich:

“When I think about the things that we need the most, of course on the top of everyone’s list are affordable housing, education and safe streets,” Salaam told the AP.

Safe streets would be nice. Safe parks too.

Because his conviction was eventually overturned after Matias Reyes confessed to raping and nearly killing investment banker Trisha Meili in Central Park, the media deifies Salaam as an example of a black oppressed by racism. He and the rest of his wolf pack were rewarded for their oppression with $41 million of taxpayer money. However, it is unlikely that they did not participate in the horrific crime. As former sex crimes prosecutor Linda Fairstein notes,

Salaam took the stand at his trial… and testified that he had gone into the park carrying a 14-inch metal pipe—the same type of weapon that was used to bludgeon both a male schoolteacher and Ms. Meili. Mr. Reyes’s confession changed none of this. He admitted being the man whose DNA had been left in the jogger’s body and on her clothing, but the two juries that heard those facts knew the main assailant in the rape had not been caught. The five were charged as accomplices, as persons “acting in concert” with each other and with the then-unknown man who raped the jogger, not as those who actually performed the act. In their original confessions—later recanted—they admitted to grabbing her breasts and legs, and two of them admitted to climbing on top of her and simulating intercourse. Semen was found on the inside of their clothing, corroborating those confessions.

Salaam has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Barack Obama. With such a sterling résumé, he likely has ambitions beyond the New York City Council.

A dispute between the two men boiled over at 12:30 p.m. in the three-bedroom apartment on Rev. James A. Polite Ave. near E. 163rd St. in Longwood [the Bronx], according to police.

The dispute was reportedly over drugs.

The 28-year-old suspect fatally shot a 32-year-old apartment resident in the head and grazed another man, 56, in the cheek on the fifth floor of the apartment building.

The gunman fled the scene, taking the stairs faster than his feet could keep up with him, sources said. When the suspect got to the third floor, his drooping trousers tripped him up and, according to a detective on the case, he fell with his finger still on the trigger — discharging the weapon a final time and blasting himself with a fatal bullet to the neck.

The city Department of Environmental Protection has drafted insane new rules that could force pizza joints using wood- and coal-fired ovens — the only way to really cook a pie — to slash emissions by up to 75%.

Hitting the target would require installation of a pricey filtration system on older ovens, slamming mostly older, classic spots like Lombardi’s in Little Italy and Brooklyn-based icon Grimaldi’s.

Not all businesses can afford pricey filtration systems, the only point of which would be to demonstrate submission to leftist authorities by ruining the taste of the pizza. Eric Adams, floundering left-wing mayor of the sanctuary city New York, wants to quarter some of the millions of unlawful invaders his party has invited across the undefended border in private homes:

Adams didn’t offer up specifics on how the plan would work – including how much New Yorkers could potentially receive per night to cover the cost of hosting a migrant. …

He did say, however, that the city would pay places of worship a nightly rate of about $125 for each asylum seeker – which is cheaper than the $380 it costs to put up a migrant household – including a family with kids or just single adults – in one of its shelter hotels.

Considering that 2,200 invaders showed up at NYC shelters last week alone, taxpayers will have to cough up plenty.

After the last taxpayer escapes New York, programs like this will have to go federal. Then taxpayers won’t be needed; Joe Biden can just print the money.

Harboring aliens is a federal crime (Title 8 US Code § 1324). But laws are irrelevant under rulers who recruit illegal aliens as police officers and dispense free drug fiend paraphernalia via vending machines.
